The Emerson Bar
Glitz. Glamour. Gallons of pink wine. These are the calling cards of The Emerson Bar on the site of the old Carnegies on Murray Street in the CBD.
While the decor of this Hollywood Regency Bar is the polar opposite of its predecessor, parts of the building are still haunted by the ghosts of Carnegies past; the two-storey, mirrored bar remains.
The integrity of the original has been kept; the design enhances the building’s architecture by adding a sense of space, light and unique design. The bottom level is a more casual, breezy public bar and the mid floor is distinctly glamorous. The top-level bar has incredible views of the city.
Although the three-tier bar stays open until 3am on weekends, this isn’t a club, but a fun pub where city workers can eat, drink, dance and hear live music.
Plush, green velvet chairs, hints of gold and rich blue tones and textures create a look that’s equal parts old-world and modern oasis.
The modern Australian menu is unpretentious and the drinks menu features fresh cocktails by the glass and pitchers. Best of all, the rooftop bar serves “Frosé All Day”: frozen Rosé that is exclusive to the top level.
