Boston Brewing Co.
Since 2011, Boston Brewing Co's Denmark brewpub has been a worthy pit stop (or detour destination) for those heading down south. In 2019, it finally opened its Perth-side counterpart in Victoria Park. The brewpub is a suitable spot for after-work drinks, an elevated pub meal or a buzzing Sunday session.
Either way, the 21 beer taps should be the focal point. The beer is still made at the Denmark flagship, so you can expect the 10 core beers (Squeeze New England IPA and Peaceful Bay session pale ale are ever-reliable pours) alongside eight taps dedicated to seasonal beers, limited releases, and collaborations with the likes of Bright Tank Brewing Co. Go for a pint or try a few on a tasting paddle.
For non-beer drinkers, there are wines on tap from Willoughby Park, as well as cocktails including the crowd favourite Pavlova Martini (featuring pavlova vodka and aquafaba), and a Twin Pole Spritz with sparkling wine, pineapple syrup and raspberry sorbet. There are also mocktails and non-alcoholic beers from Heaps Normal.
As for food, the menu spans everything from pub classics to creative takes on familiar flavours. Standouts have included crisped-up brussels sprouts with cashews and mint, lamb shoulder braised in stout and served shawarma style, and salmon crudo served with wakame and pickled radish to keep things a little lighter.
There’s plenty of space with tall ceilings and a mezzanine, as well as a fireplace to get around during Perth’s rarer cold days. If the sun’s doing its usual business, you can sit outside too and enjoy your spread. Craft beer might be the focus here, but food and atmosphere certainly play their part too.
