Shelves of wine flank both sides of a 16-seat oak table at Atelier, a slick Noosa wine bar that feels more inner-city than coastal town. The narrow, cave-like room features neutral decor inspired by Italian cellars, including rattan chairs that edge the aforementioned table, and a sheer curtain drawn across a floor-to-ceiling window looking out onto the street. It's a tasteful look courtesy of designer co-owners Jarad Clout and Chris Earngey.

The use of a Coravin system allows wines to be poured without removing the cork, meaning more than 120 options are available by the half or full glass, as well as the bottle. Most are from Europe, with a handful of Australian labels sprinkled throughout.

There are lengthy sections devoted to chardonnay, pinot noir and shiraz, plus a few options for those who like it natural. Some of the more premium wines cost upwards of $100 for a glass (hello, Penfolds Grange), but these are the exception. Plenty of glasses land under $15, and bottles below $100. Top-shelf spirits are also on the pour.

The food menu also sports Italian influences. Popular orders include a lobster roll, fettuccine with freshly shaved truffle and house-made tiramisu. Cheese and charcuterie are also perfect foils for a glass of creamy Louis Jadot chardonnay from France, or an easy-drinking shiraz by McLaren Vale’s Ministry of Clouds.
