Tacoteca
Tacoteca started life as a lunchtime pop-up at Snickel Lane wine and mezcal bar La Fuente. It took over the City Works Depot site formerly occupied by Food Truck Garage in July 2023, refreshing the interior with dusty orange on the kitchen and bar frontage.
Visit for hand-pressed tortilla tacos with traditional Mexican fillings and a handful of antojitos (small plates) that includes chips and salsa, guacamole, and chilaquiles – a dish of deconstructed fried tortillas served in a bowl with toppings like chorizo, egg and pork al pastor. Taco-wise there are blue- and yellow-corn tacos with fillings like slow-braised lamb barbacoa, beef suadero (a smooth, tender cut of meat), spiced fish and vegan smoky cabbage – all with various crunchy or pickled toppings for texture and contrast .
Naturally, there’s a range of Margaritas, including classic and tamarind versions (and a zero-alcohol Margarita that more than holds its own) as well as horchata, wine and craft beer – all sure to be even more enjoyable sipped in the attached, sheltered courtyard on a sunny day.
