Among the vines of the Marlborough winegrowing region at the top of the South Island, Arbour is a much-loved destination that serves a four- or seven-course degustation menu. The rural restaurant was founded by chef Bradley Hornby and business partner Liz Buttimore in 2015, and the duo works with many local producers who provide stellar ingredients for Arbour’s innovative, sophisticated dishes.

The light-timbered interior is contemporary and comfortable, with high ceilings and double doors that can be opened to the greenery right outside on a warm day – and the surrounding land is delightful for a pre- or post-meal stroll.

As you’d expect from its location, the wine list is also a highlight. Arbour is usually open for dinner Wednesday through Saturday, but should you wish to visit during the day, the team can accommodate groups for lunch if you call ahead.
