Founded by pastry chefs Laura Metcalf and Kelsie Culpan, Mor Bakery's Remuera shop and cafe was a natural progression from their initial online ordering and pop-up model – which built them a loyal following across Auckland.
Located at 158 Remuera Road (formerly Jess's Underground Kitchen), Mor's physical space offers a chance for the bakers to see their customers enjoy their pastries fresh out of the oven.
The pared-back space features a large timber cabinet filled with Mor's famously skilful pastries, as well as earthy wall tiles and ample natural light. Have your treat and a Supreme coffee at one of the indoor or outdoor tables, or scoot into the small bench window area.
The shop stocks all the Mor favourites, including the popular almond croissants, fruit-topped rosettes and seasonal danishes – along with cakes, slices and biscuits, depending on the day. They also serve sandwiches and toasties on bread that’s made in-house or sourced from Florets.
Metcalf and Culpan have been friends since their patisserie studies at AUT, and both love using creative, seasonal flavour combinations – such as mandarin, ricotta, and elderflower; or chocolate and fennel caramel.
Mor’s shop is open four days a week, and the team also supplies pastries to Florets on Saturdays, as well as Cazador Deli on Dominion Road. Metcalf and Culpan also offer customised catering.
