Minimal yet luxurious and kitted out in comfort, Purepods has seven glass cabins in remote, picturesque New Zealand locations for you to get back to nature - with no tent in sight.

Six are dotted around the east coast of the South Island and one is at the bottom of the North Island. Set in secluded locations away from prying eyes, some look out over mountains while others are near the sea, but each is its own special little escape.

The Kahutara Purepod is around 20 minutes inland from Kaikōura, and two-and-a-half hours’ drive from Christchurch. Kahutara takes its name from the Kahutara River in the valley below, and from bed you can look out over the majestic Seaward Kaikōura Range.

As with every cabin, Kahutara is solar-powered – from the LED lighting and fridge to the water system. It has a comfortable bed and heater for warmth, cooking facilities if you want to self-cater (and optional dinner and breakfast hampers if you don’t).

Surrounded by floor-to-ceiling glass walls – and a glass roof – you can lie back and stargaze from the warmth of your bed or throw open the doors to the breeze and breathtaking views. There's a hot shower, bluetooth speaker, fresh linen and outdoor barbeque. It certainly beats pitching a tent.
