Freida Margolis is a neighbourhood bar in the West Lynn village at the top of Grey Lynn. It was set up by owner Mike Howie in a former butcher’s shop in 2012 (the corner site still advertises “Westlynn Organic Meats”) and is an eclectic, laidback and unpretentious place to go for a craft beer or well-priced wine or classic cocktail.

The outdoor seating area at Freida’s (as it’s commonly known) heaves on a sunny day. On rowdy nights Howie has been known to lead singalongs on the upright piano at the back of the bar. Keep an eye out for live gigs held in the intimate space.
