The Wafflers
This petite waffle store keeps things simple with customisable waffles inspired by a hugely popular South Korean street food.
With its monochromatic, minimalist fit-out, The Wafflers might be more understated than you'd expect for a decadent sweets store. It was designed by Young Do (the founder of interior studio, Weareyoung), and has a curved front counter and archway that both soften the lines of the textured grey walls and floor.
Co-owners and siblings Rok and Min Kang, who also run The Wafflers as a market-hopping food truck, have created an unpretentious menu that offers two options. There’s the croffle, a buttery-sweet fusion that sees house-made croissants pressed into waffles; or a classic waffle, which is served crunchy and cold to eat on the go.
Slather your treat with sauces and toppings – you might choose something fruity such as mango or apple cinnamon, or a dessert-like Nutella banana or tiramisu topping. Drinks-wise, try the sparkling Korean-style “ades” – watermelon-ade, green grape-ade or blue lemonade. Or, coffee awaits for that mid-afternoon pick-me-up.
