As costs go up, your next holiday might feel more and more out of reach. Luckily, we’ve got some good news. Broadsheet has teamed up with Hong Kong Tourism Board to give one lucky reader (and their favourite person) the chance to win a $5000 getaway, including return flights from Australia and an unforgettable hotel stay.

In this choose-your-own-adventure-style trip, you decide how you want to travel and rest along the way. That includes picking your own hotel through a travel agent, with 320 options to choose from across the harbourside city.

Our first pick lands you in the thick of Causeway Bay. The Park Lane sits opposite Victoria Park, with the city’s mix of greenery and high-rise energy right at your doorstep. It’s a large-scale stay without feeling generic – rooms look out over the harbour, skyline or park, depending on your vantage point, and the location makes it easy to dip between shopping streets, galleries and late-night dining, with the MTR station just around the corner.

Across the harbour, Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel offers a different pace. Set along the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, it places you within easy walking distance of the nightly Symphony of Lights show, as well as landmarks like the Avenue of Stars and Bruce Lee statue, while sitting right beside Harbour City’s expansive retail precinct.

Beyond your flights and accommodation, the rest is entirely up to you – whether that means tackling the city’s hiking trails, lounging by an infinity pool overlooking Victoria Harbour, eating your way through cha chaan tengs and Michelin-starred restaurants, or visiting the city’s many art galleries and design centres.

To enter, complete the online entry form. By entering, you’ll also be signed up to Broadsheet’s new Travel newsletter: a fortnightly dispatch on the hottest new hotels, scenic adventures, lo-fi getaways and essential gear to help you travel better, switch off and dive in. Plus, what to eat, drink and do while you’re there.

The competition ends on Monday May 25, 2026, at 11.59pm AEST. Terms and conditions apply.

This competition has now closed. Congratulations to our winner, Mel M!
