These Off-Grid Cabin Stays Have Been Kitted Out With Your Precious Pooch in Mind

Your daily walk together is probably your dog’s favourite part of their day – they get to explore more of their environment, let out all that pent up energy from staying inside, escape the confines of home and, of course, spend that quality time with you.

But a breezy suburban walk can still be stressful for them: cars honking at every corner, other dogs growling as they cross paths, crowds of strangers, and no options when it gets too overwhelming. If you think escaping the daily grind into nature is beneficial for humans, it’s much the same for dogs, too.

And while Unyoked has plenty of off-grid cabins you can bring your dogs to, two cabins have been specially reimagined specifically to give your dogs the best experience.

The back-to-nature accommodation has partnered with fresh dog food company Lyka on two limited-edition Lyka Lodges, pairing Unyoked’s mission to provide environmental escapes with Lyka’s belief that a healthier dog starts with what’s in their bowl. “[It’s] both aspects of health together under one roof: fresh nutrition and time in nature,” said Lyka’s Brand Director Cassandra Do Carmo in a statement.

After all, it’s not just humans who need to switch off. “The noise and pace of modern life doesn’t just wear on us, it wears on our dogs, too. They live our schedules, our screen time, our overloaded weeks,” Unyoked co-founder Cameron Grant said. “The irony is, dogs figured out a long time ago what the rest of us are only just remembering – that time outside isn’t a treat, it’s a requirement.”

There are two Lyka Lodges: one in Pokolbin, a two-hour drive north of Sydney, and another in the Tarra Valley, 2.5 hours from Melbourne by car. Both have amenities curated to give you and your pooch the best stay, including complimentary poo bags and treats like Lyka’s turkey dental jerkey, a soft dog bed, an entire stick library for playing fetch, and more. Each cabin also has everything humans will need for a weekend away: a cosy queen bed, bar fridge, gas stove, hot shower, toilet and fire pit, plus fun things like dog-themed games and puzzles, books, a music player, yoga mats and campfire jaffle maker. The Pokolbin cabin includes air con and a heater, while the one in the Tarra Valley has woodfired heating and an outdoor bath.
