We’ve planned the trip so you don’t have to. In partnership with Revolut, here are the Greek tavernas in sleepy seaside towns, technicolour drag clubs in Bangkok and Michelin-starred restaurants we’re chasing next year.

We’re obsessive here at Broadsheet. Most of the year, we’re hunting down the best places to eat, drink and play in our home cities. But when it comes to holidays? Our planning is a full-on military operation – think spreadsheets, to-do lists and Google Maps with every pin annotated.

And we make sure we’re well-prepared when we get there, too. Luckily, a Revolut account gives you the tools to simplify your financial admin, anywhere in the world – from competitive exchange rates (up to 10 times cheaper than major banks) and hassle-free ATM withdrawals, to eSIM data plans and smart budgeting tools. Plus, you can earn Revpoints on everyday spending and redeem them for airline upgrades, discounted hotel stays and more.

In 2026, our team is chasing unforgettable meals, hidden bars and experiences you can’t stream from the sofa. From secluded Greek islands to Bangkok’s technicolour drag clubs, here’s where we’ll be jetting off to.

Greece

I just got back from Italy and I’m already plotting my next European escape. Honestly, everything tastes, feels, and just is better under the Euro sun. Greece is calling next. I’ve ticked off Mykonos and Santorini, but now I’m craving the islands that feel a little more untouched. First on my list is Sifnos, with its quiet medieval villages, hiking trails, handmade ceramics and tiny tavernas. I’m picturing myself parked at a table with a view of the Aegean, eating grilled octopus, taramasalata and pita for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And then there’s Milos, the volcanic island with those surreal rock formations at Sarakiniko or “moon beach”. Jump off a giant cliff straight into turquoise water? Yes, please. Island life, I’m ready. – Steph Vigilante, head of social media

The Philippines and Japan

I'm going to Manila for a wedding in April, and after eating my way through some of the capital’s best restaurants, I’m hoping to jet off to other parts of the archipelago while I’m in the Philippines, too. Maybe the rolling hills of Batanes, Siargao to learn how to surf, Siquijor’s waterfalls and turquoise waters, diving through shipwrecks in Coron, or the white sands of Boracay to sip mango smoothies and read a good book.

I’m also hoping to make a little side trip to Japan, just in time for spring and cherry blossom season. I’ve been to Tokyo twice and loved it both times, but would be keen on exploring Kyoto and Osaka next. I’m ready for all the takoyaki, okonomiyaki and udon I can fit in my stomach. –Chynna Santos, branded content editor

Thailand

Next year, I want to get a little silly in Bangkok. The city’s drag scene is apparently unmatched, so I’m pencilling in a night at House of Heals, the club run by drag royalty Pangina Heals. The Stranger Bar sounds like a chaotic riot, too. Keeping with the theme of queer chaos, Iwannabangkok’s flagship store is a temple for queerness and absurdity, so I’ll carve out some luggage space for the spoils of that visit.

Once that’s all out of my system, I’ll trade the neon for green and find some quiet in Bang Krachao, an “island” in the middle of Bangkok. I’ll make a pit stop at Vacilando, a tiny art and photo bookshop I’ve been stalking on Instagram. And I’ve heard Chinatown in Bangkok is something else, so I’ll head there for a bite and check out Rebel Art Space between meals. For something a bit more highbrow, I’ll try score a table at Michelin-starred Baan Tepa Culinary Space and check out what’s on at the Museum of Contemporary Art. – James Wililiams, creative solutions manager

Mexico

I’ve long felt the pull of Mexico. For months, I’ve been deep in an Etsy hole of beautiful Mexican homewares, like singular spiky mirrors and antique clay dinnerware. Shipping them here might be easier (and cheaper) than a plane ticket, but I want the real thing.

First, I’ll fly into Mexico City and spend a week eating. I’ll start the day with fresh guava rolls at Panadería Rosetta, followed by a counter lunch at Taqueria El Califa de Leon – sampling every taco on their four-item menu. And I won’t leave without trying Contramar’s famous Christmas-colour-streaked fish. After that, Veracruz awaits with its ancient ruins at El Tajin and fresh seafood. I’ll find a hole-in-the-wall spot to eat a simple bowl of arroz a la tumbada (claypot-cooked seafood and rice). And I’ll remember that there are so many souvenirs you can’t buy online. – Holly Bodeker-Smith, newsletter editor

France

Paris has been on my mind for a while – I haven’t been since 2015, and I’m keen for a fresh perspective on the city. I’ve been quietly bookmarking a few wine bars and eateries to explore, including Rojo, Le Cheval d’Or and Delicatessen Place. Of course, there will be some shopping – purely for research – at The Archivist and The Broken Arm. Beyond the city, I’m heading to a family property on the French Riviera for my 30th. I expect my days will be spent alternating between sunning under striped umbrellas and floating in the Mediterranean, with the occasional indulgence in fresh fruits de mer. I’m also planning a trip to Marseille – it seems the city is having a moment, and I want to see it for myself. – Simone Richardson, shopping editor

Albania

Albania has been at the top of my European hit list for a few years. I’m hoping that 2026 is the year I’ll finally turn my hundreds of bookmarks and map pins into a proper holiday. I’d love to take in its Balkan history, bask in the turquoise water of its Adriatic beaches, and visit mountain towns with their icy cold but breathtakingly beautiful rivers. You can fly directly to Tirana or hop on a ferry from Corfu, and as a big fan of The Durrells, I know which mode of transportation I’m opting for. – Lucy Bell Bird, national assistant editor
