Take Off With Kathmandu’s New Ultra-Light Luggage Range

Kathmandu has been kitting out hikers and weekend adventurers for more than 40 years, specialising in the kind of hard-wearing, functional gear that life in the great outdoors requires. Now, it’s applied that same ethos to a new range of luggage thoughtfully designed to withstand the rigours of air travel – from surviving hectic airport dashes to being squashed into the overhead storage compartment and hauled through crowded urban streets.
The original Feather Flight 40L carry-on roller weighs in at just 1.6 kilograms, one of the lightest in its class. The new styles – a 40L carry-on spinner, an 85L check-in roller and an 80L check-in spinner – expand the range to accommodate every kind of trip, from weekends away to round-the-world journeys.
Instead of relying on a heavy full frame, the Feather Flight range features an innovative exoskeleton, designed as a lightweight lattice, which adds structure and durability without weighing the bag down. The two new spinners have front and rear exoskeleton frames that zip together into a protective hardshell, while the roller styles combine a hardshell rear with a flexible recycled nylon front for a bag that can be comfortably squashed, manipulated and packed to the limits without losing integrity.
Designed in Ōtautahi Christchurch, the new styles are offered in two classic shades – a functional black or eye-catching blue – while the original Feather Flight 40L carry-on comes in five colour options. Inside, you’ll find mesh pockets to keep your gear organised, while the check-in styles feature TSA-accepted locks. Every bag is crafted from 93 per cent recycled nylon, keeping with the brand’s commitment, as a certified B Corp, to integrating environmental best practice into its designs.
