There’s a lot to recommend a mid-week wilderness escape: not only are you spending time away from your desk and computer, but you’re avoiding the nature-crowds that flood national parks on the weekends. And now this: from today, NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is offering discounts on trips taken from Monday to Thursday.
It’s taking 50 per cent off full-priced campgrounds and 25 per cent off full-priced cabins and cottages in national parks across NSW until September 16. And there are a whole bunch of places with great deals right across the state.
If you like your creature comforts, stay in an Assistant Lighthouse Keepers’ Cottage high above the waves at Cape Byron. Or, head to the gold-rush town of Hill End – right between and Bathurst and Mudgee – for a weekday stay at its former postmaster’s home, built in 1872. If you’d prefer a staycation, opt for a riverfront cottage in the Royal National Park or a former officer’s residence on the harbour at Middle Head.
If you don’t mind setting up your own shelter for the night, there’s a host of campgrounds in picturesque locations. There’s the beautifully remote Horse Swamp campground in Barrington Tops National Park, between Scone and Gloucester; camping by the beach at Bittangabee campground on the far south coast; or close-to-the-city but far-from-city-life camping at The Basin, overlooking Pittwater in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.
Find participating campgrounds and accommodation here, and book using the MIDWEEK promo code. The promotion runs until September 16.
