There’s something about being enveloped by nature that really gets the mind going.
So, get out of the office and into The Cambium, a deluxe new retreat on the Mornington Peninsula providing a sanctuary exclusively for business groups looking to escape in style.
Behind the concept are husband-and-wife duo Sally and Damien Marasco, who are big believers in what the natural world can do for enhancing creative thinking. “I struggle to sit in one room,” Sally says. “So, we wanted to offer a meeting space that is comfortable and has amazing views, but [also] has space for people to move and think.”
Set on a sprawling four-acre property in Red Hill – surrounded by the lush Endeavour Fern Gully rainforest – The Cambium is bookable for everything from company retreats to events and seminars, and even one-day meetings, for people in any industry.
Plus, the grounds are entirely yours to explore and enjoy: expect acres of green, lush grass, visits from native wildlife and a toasty firepit. Three separate buildings offer a range of amenities – including 11 cosy guest rooms, a grand communal dining room and a commercial kitchen (professional catering and private dining are also available).
The historical site’s original stables have been restored and flipped into a multipurpose space – with a 14-person meeting room, an open fireplace, and a loft fitted with plenty of comfy seating and quiet work spaces. The stables were part of a number of renovations completed at the property, overseen by Melbourne-based architecture and design studio Carr. “We stripped it right back – it needed a lot of love,” says Damien.
“This is a sanctuary for thinkers – people who are looking for a change,” Sally explains. “We’re not just the standard, run-of-the-mill venue. We want you to leave with a sense of growth – personally, or professionally.”
The Cambium is available for one-day hire and two-night stays.
