Win: The Winter Road Trip of Your Dreams, Worth $3000
Words by Chynna Santos · Updated on 04 May 2026 · Published on 16 Mar 2026
Picture this: your hands on the steering wheel as you look ahead at wide open roads. Maybe at the snowy peaks of Australia’s alpine regions, towering rainforests, or the red sand of our deserts. You’ve thrown your bags and an esky in the boot, your sat nav’s taking you to your accommodation, your favourite tunes are blasting through the radio, and you’re just enjoying the journey.
If the only thing standing between you and this reality is the cash to make it happen, we’ve got you covered. Broadsheet has teamed up with Avis to give one lucky reader a winter road trip to their dream destination, worth $3000.
It’s a choose-your-own-adventure experience, with a $1000 flight voucher and $1000 worth of car hire from Avis. You’ll also get $600 towards an Airbnb, plus an extra $400 to spend as you please – maybe for petrol, snacks on the road or souvenirs to bring home?
To go in the running, all you have to do is enter your details in this form. The competition is open to residents of Australia who are over 21 years old, with entries closing at 11:00 AEST on Thursday 30 April 2026. The winner will be drawn on Tuesday 5 May and contacted by email. Terms and conditions apply.
Can’t decide where to go? We’ve got some suggestions.
Maybe you can tick off your Tassie bucket list with short hikes, fine dining, fresh oysters and coastal strolls from Launceston to Freycinet. Or take the scenic route from Perth to Margaret River and take in fresh local produce, world-class wineries, limestone caves and breathtaking beaches.
South Australia’s Flinders Range, when visited from Adelaide, will take you through dusty towns and red dirt to towing sawtooth cliffs and a gigantic natural amphitheatre, while driving from Brisbane to Noosa means postcard-perfect towns, prime dairy country, sandy stretches of beach and more than 600 market stalls to browse.
Or take inspiration from artist and book designer Evi O, who was “wowed by the array of volcanic formations” at Hanging Rock. Bring a picnic and take in the view at sunset or sunrise, then tack on visits to the Victorian country town of Kyneton and Organ Pipes National Park, both conveniently located on the way back to Melbourne.
