Luxe hotel brand Waldorf Astoria is coming to Sydney – marking the group’s first foray into the Australasian market. Expected to open in early 2025 in the One Circular Quay development at 1 Alfred Street, the five-star hotel will have views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House.

Clocking in at 28 floors, it will be connected to a 61-level prestige apartment tower. Tokyo’s Kengo Kuma & Associates and Sydney’s Crone Architects are designing the hotel, which will boast 179 rooms and 41 suites. A Waldorf Astoria Spa, two restaurants and a rooftop bar will be on-site, as will Peacock Alley – the group’s signature eatery and bar, named for the opulent marble-lined corridor that joined the original Waldorf and Astoria hotels in New York City.

Waldorf Astoria Sydney will join 30 existing Waldorf Astoria hotels around the world, with 20 more in the pipeline. It’s part of a brand founded by Hilton Worldwide in 2006, a spin-off of the storied original Waldorf Astoria in New York City.

Waldorf Astoria Sydney is slated to open in early 2025.
