Mavinn is a sharp range of 17 home accessories handcrafted by Southeast Asian artisans, including hand-knitted bathrobes, braided jute baskets, and colourful bedspreads. Plus, a pouch embroidered with a cat.

Ikea’s new Mavinn collection is for lovers of colours and cats. The tight 17-piece range is handcrafted by artisans from Southeast Asia, and aims to show off traditional crafts like tassel-making and embroidery, offering a snapshot of the talents and cultural heritage of the makers. Each product is made from cotton and jute sourced in the makers’ local areas.

Colour is key in this collection. Coloured-cotton braided jute storage baskets ($39) and bags ($35) offer aesthetically pleasing storage solutions, while zesty chequered cushion covers ($15), bedspreads ($49) and throws ($29), made from durable and easy-wash materials, will liven up the bedroom or couch. The range also includes a stripy bathrobe ($39) and a small pouch with a cat embroidered on it ($10) for organising smaller items. Plus, there’s a black pot hanger ($9).

“In the Mavinn collection, we’ve consistently worked with strong colours, squares and stripes – and added a black cat as a playful twist,” said Ikea designers Paulin Machado and Maria Vinka in a statement. “We hope that the products will make you look twice, but most of all we want you to appreciate how the collection is created in collaboration with social businesses and skilled artisans – that there is a person behind every object.”
