Great Outdoors: Double Launches a Rug Collection Made for Al Fresco Living

Double’s signature machine-washable rugs have become an interior mainstay. Now, the brand’s new outdoor collection is set to shake up balconies, courtyards and verandahs just in time for summer.
There is a distinctly artful aesthetic throughout the collection. Playful designs like Sunday , Platter and Olives Olive echo meals (and Martinis) that might be served outside as the weather warms. There’s also a series of abstract shapes to choose from: Marsh in sage, Julius in cream, and Jig, which comes in multicoloured and black colourways. And Twilight nods to scenes after sunset with its rich hues.
Made from cotton and jute, these pieces are stain-proof and hard-wearing. And while they’re designed to jazz up outdoor areas, there’s no stopping you using them inside your house.
The outdoor styles follow the same two-layer technology as the rest of the range. A cushioning non-slip base (with a similar feel to a yoga mat) is layered underneath your chosen design. If you already own a rug from Double , you can buy a new top layer separate to the base to swap out and refresh your space – it will knock a few dollars off the price, too.
These new additions to the range have the same simple care instructions as the indoor offering. Throw the top layer into the washing machine on a cold, delicate cycle, using a mild detergent to get those hard stains out. Hang or tumble-dry the top, then reconnect it with the base for fresh floor decor.
