Your Intimate Needs Change Over Time – and So Should Your Lube

Intimate care isn’t a new concept, but caught between misinformation, stigma and a lack of medically backed solutions, it remains a complicated category. That’s what Melbourne label Ellechemy wants to change.
Co-founded by longtime friends Dr Raelia Lew (a fertility specialist and gynaecologist) and Jordi Morrison (a former L’Oreal and Selfridges beauty expert), Ellechemy is designed to support women’s evolving health needs, from postpartum dryness to menopause discomfort, or simply making intimacy more enjoyable.
Lew, who works closely with patients experiencing a range of intimate concerns, saw firsthand how many women struggled to find products that were both effective and actually enjoyable to use. “Most lubricants either felt too clinical or had no real scientific backing,” she tells Broadsheet.
“We wanted to develop products to support different life stages. Someone trying to conceive has very different needs from someone in menopause, but the common thread is comfort and confidence.”
The result is a collection of six formulas designed to hydrate, protect and enhance pleasure. Among them is Protectility, a fertility-friendly lubricant that’s pH-balanced and sperm-safe, and Equilibrium, which contains probiotics and boric acid to help support a healthy vaginal microbiome and ease irritation. Eternelle is aimed at perimenopause and menopause, offering non-hormonal hydration to support comfort and elasticity.
“Our formulations are made with the female experience in mind – unlike many lubes that, in hindsight, weren’t necessarily developed for women at all,” Lew continues.
With a philosophy that blends science with luxury, Ellechemy is proving that intimate care deserves just as much consideration as skincare, haircare and everything else we invest in for our bodies. “I come from a background where people are deeply invested in skincare, but that level of care often doesn’t extend to sexual health,” says Morrison. “Sex is better with lube and we shouldn’t be embarrassed about that, it’s just about finding the right one.”
Housed in sleek, minimalist bottles made to be kept on display, the inclusive range is available to buy online and at selected healthcare centres. Each lubricant is made in Australia and comes in your choice of a silicone or water-based formula to suit different preferences.
