Baina’s New Apothecary Line, Jono Fleming’s Rug Collab, and More Homewares on Our November Wishlist

A little comfort, colour and whimsy can go a long way, right? It’s something we take very seriously at Broadsheet, both in our home decor and while gift shopping. These are the homewares we’re dreaming about (and adding to our wishlists) in November.

I’ve got my eye (and hopefully soon, my bum) on Sheet Society’s new cushions – especially this ribbed lumbar and the round, patchwork-style number that looks like it’d hug me right back. In my dream bedroom, there’s a sturdy vintage bedside table, something like this 1940s walnut beauty that looks like it’ll outlive us all. Because I’m slowly building my little art collection, I’ve been eyeing the screenprints from Mowanjum Art & Culture Centre in the Kimberley – particularly Gabriella Barunga’s Unguds (Child Dreaming), which has been sitting on my wishlist for a while now. And because I’m weak for Fazeek’s glassware, this new jewel oil bottle might finally tip me over the edge.

I’ve got all my big furnishings sorted, so now I’m focused on setting the mood. That means textures, scents and lighting – little things that make a house feel like a home. I’ve got my eye on a sculptural lamp that almost makes me understand moths, and some locally made incense to shift the energy just right. And I can’t wait to throw Jono Fleming’s plush rug collab with Double on the floor – everything will instantly feel cosier.
Sticky-fingered lighter thieves only steal cheap-o lighters, so here’s hoping this design is suave enough to stay put (I’ll be keeping it firmly on the coffee table). And finally, with winter wrapping up, the scruff has got to go – this schmick razor is coming home with me.

The silly season has officially begun, which means I have no choice but to lean hard into whimsy. In true Marie Kondo fashion, I want everything I have in my home to spark joy. The carpets in my flat are in dire need of replacement, but for now I’m using large area rugs to cover them where I can. The Golden Marigold rug from Ruggable’s collaboration with The Local Project is bright, fun – and on sale. I’m also looking to step up my hosting game with vivid and playful pieces like this Maison Balzac swan tablecloth, these cute-as salad servers and floral candlesticks from Ssense, and this gorgeous ceramic bowl from Saarde. I’m also an absolute fiend for a Dirty Martini, so these silly-yet-sleek cocktail picks from Corey Ashford are right up my alley.

Melbourne doesn’t feel like spring right now – and my skin agrees. Luckily, Baina just launched an apothecary line, and I’m hoping this lustrous oil will save me. Post-bathe, I’ll gently pat down with my new plush Tekla towels (shout out to engagement gifts) before slinging them into Enkle Studios’ wine-hued laundry baskets.
Weddings are on my mind – more specifically, what to gift. Art always feels thoughtful, and right now the group chat is debating between a work by my very talented friend, who hand-looms magnificent stories into her creations, and one of Emmanuelle McGlade’s geometric beauties. For something smaller, you really can’t go wrong with Tanchen’s corded wine bag, born to tote bevvies to summer soirees.

My new place is feeling a little bare, so I’m starting to fill it out with pieces that add colour, texture and a hint of whimsy. First up is this stylish side table from Fleur Studios – the stone slab plus shelf is perfect for magazines, cups of tea or whatever I can’t bear to put away. I’ve also been dreaming of a cosy reading nook, and this plush bench from RJ Living fits the bill perfectly.
Bedding is my never-ending weakness and I’m obsessed with everything by I Love Linen, so with the current sale, I’m hitting go on this fresh set. In an attempt to create more storage space – and plan for an upcoming trip – I’m rounding out this month’s wishlist with July’s new trackable suitcase. The rich chocolate hue is to die for.
Gitika Garg, assistant editor – art, design and style
There are a few things I’m looking forward to as the weather starts to warm up (kind of) and the holiday break begins to glimmer on the horizon – like staying in bed just a little longer in fresh cotton sheets. These reversible mulberry striped ones from Hommey have been on my mind since they launched a few months ago – they’d pair perfectly with this glossy, plum-coloured bedside lamp from MCM House that’s been sitting on my wishlist.
Sunny picnics are high on the list too, with a bottle of white tucked neatly into this very chic Fieldbar cooler case. (It’s just launched in red, too.) Then there are hiking days, where I’ll be keeping hydrated with my new Nalgene water bottle. And finally, hosting. Lazy afternoons with snacky plates, a good playlist, even better chats and incense burning from Black Blaze – lit, of course, with matches from my new silver matchbox.

It’s hot. I want a drink. Preferably from these slightly knobbly, Japan-made glasses. They’re cute and one-off, and ready for a splash of something alc-free (like the juicy Zzvino, from the darls at Doom Juice) or boozy (like an Ester Martini, straight from my freezer). The heat is also ripening my fruit and veg at pace, and I’m moments away from hitting “go” on a cold-pressed juicer to blitz the sad ones. And when I roast them instead, I want this perfect, glassy olive oil decanter by Leisa Wharington and green-handled Wusthof knife.
Dan Cunningham, food and drink features editor
It’s almost the end of the year. In other words: Martini time. Corey Ashford’s perfectly imperfect Martini glasses are the kind of thing you give people as a wedding gift, but actually want to keep for yourself. And because I’m a twist guy (down with the olive-garchy!) I’ll be manicuring citrus on this nice pearl chopping board. In the spirit of laying low this silly season, I’m looking forward to some project-level cooking with a new Hexclad sauté pan and a (not cheugy) Le Creuset casserole.
