I have an unhealthy obsession with butter dishes (please don’t ask why, I can’t explain it) and this raw butter keeper from Gibson and Co Makers on the Mornington Peninsula recently caught my eye. I only wish it were big enough for me to crawl into after a long day. To round out the dinner table aesthetic, I’m also eyeballing this green decanter to hold my iced teas and a stripy bowl for balmy, al fresco pasta nights. My space is gonna smell good all summer long with this clean, refreshing handwash from Leif, as well as Melbourne brand Subtle Bodies’ hinoki cypress incense and sturdy, brutalist-leaning incense holder.

This big funky vase joined my collection this summer, and I’ve been filling it with foraged greenery from my neighbourhood ever since. It’s bringing the shade inside (where it’s cooler), then my wishlist will bring the sun: Bed Threads bubblegum pink pillow cases, Alexander Khabbazi’s fun frolicking horse print, Apartamento’s ceramic book stand for cookbook holding, and Softedge’s dreamy blue-skies snack plate (for my morning mango).

New year, new me. Same apartment. It’s January so, naturally, I’m in my New Year’s resolutions and self-improvement era. I want my space to reflect my start-of-year optimism. I want to prioritise my friendships this year and host at home more. This sunshiny Maison Balzac decanter is the perfect marriage between form and function. It would instantly elevate any tablescape. These wavy, rice-husk chopping boards from Adelaide brand Maison Appret would look chic on any table, as would this Etsy snack plate I’m obsessed with. I want to give my table itself a makeover too with this Yousi tablecloth designed by artist Kaye Lister. Plus, as a feast for the eyes, I want this print from Melbourne artist Becky Boden on my walls.

Wool rugs are fab, but they’re a bit like having a pet – at least, they require just as much clean-up. My Dyson was already on its last legs, but the moulting rug finished the job, so I recently upgraded to a Roborock, which handles the hair and then some.
Aside from keeping my house fluff-free, my New Year’s resolutions include reading more and improving my stitching skills – lucky for me, MacGuffin magazine ticks both boxes. With my new knowhow, I aspire to make a patchwork blind and a pair of plush pyjamas. But if that proves too difficult, I’ll opt for this Japanese design and a slick set from Sheet Society’s new sleepwear line, Resting. (I figure it’s always good to have a back-up, right?)

Right now, I’m hosting a lot of lunches, which means a lot of dirty dishes. Most drying racks are either an eyesore or not particularly functional, but Designstuff’s drying mat and rack are discreet and versatile – and the rack even doubles as a record organiser. And what’s a kitchen sink refresh without a new dish brush (necessary) and an ultra-luxe hand soap (also necessary). After putting the latter to good use, I’ll dry my mitts on this sandy-hued towel by new label Knightly, founded by Sydney interior design studio Studiojos.

I’m at a stage where I want my home to be drenched in colour. I’m all about that instant serotonin lift that high saturation can provide. Hence, I’m looking at Mornington Peninsula artist Leisa Wharington’s Spiky bowl in lapis and Mustard’s the Lowdown locker in, yes, mustard. Fresh details boost a space, which is why Mosey Me’s Tulip bath mat and Tarta Gelatina’s ruffled oven mitt have caught my eye. I’ll throw in Fenton & Fenton’s Raffy table lamp in fuchsia and Le Labo’s limited-edition Cypres 21 candle in an indigo-dyed box while I’m at it.

A new year calls for new bedding, and I’m all about colour in 2026. I’m tossing up between Sheet Society’s Stevie Velvet set in burgundy or the olive, oatmeal and white bundle from Bed Threads. While we’re on the topic of beds, I’m ashamed to say that I’ve been living with my second-hand Ikea bedframe for far too long and it’s time for an upgrade. This walnut one from Life Interiors fits the brief.
The Apartmento magazine issue 35 cover scratches an itch in my brain that I didn’t realise was there, so I will be getting my hands on a copy for warm-weather perusing. I plan to do this while sipping from Maison Balzac’s new ruby red water glasses. I already own them in blue and green, but glassware feels like a “you can never have too many” situation – right?

I’m not into New Year’s resolutions but I do want to focus on creating more with my hands in 2026, to nurture my creativity and spend less time on my phone. So I’ve got my eyes set on a workshop at Fragile Place in Collingwood to create a beautiful leadlight mirror. You can also buy one from Duck Ragu direct. I'm also continuing to commit to no big lights in 2026 – it’s why this warm orb light is a need not a want. I also love this amber pitcher for summer entertaining by Turgla Home. And for the coffee table, I’m keen for the release of Jenny Walton’s book, Jenny Sais Quoi. Jenny is one of the OG fashion influencers with a style rooted in timeless vintage fashion – I can’t wait to get inside her brain.
