Looking for a new book? These five Aussie titles might just fill the Boy Swallows Universe hole in your heart.

Aussie author Trent Dalton’s multi-award-winning, internationally bestselling novel Boy Swallows Universe was released as a Netflix series earlier this year. Published in 2018, it’s based on Dalton’s upbringing in Brisbane’s south-west in the 1980s. It follows 12-year-old Eli Bell, who grew up surrounded by violence, with a drug-addicted mother and heroin-dealing stepfather.

For lovers of the book (and the series) we’re sharing more good reads written by Aussie authors – and set in Australia – that you should add to your to-read pile.
