We Tried It: Bonny’s New Sheets and Fluffy Doonas

My friends call me an “active” sleeper, which I think is generous. I fuss, kick and throw my own midnight rave (invite only). Once, I even swiped a partner’s pillow mid-dream and hugged it like a teddy. Most mornings I wake to find the doona half off the bed, a pillow on the floor and the fitted corners pulled loose. It’s a miracle anyone sleeps beside (or even near) me.
So when Bonny released its first sheet range in August – promising to make Aussie beds easier to wrangle – I was curious. The Melbourne brand had already won fans with its fluffy doonas back in 2022 and sheets were the natural next step.
Almost two months in, I can say they’re soft, sturdy and cleverly designed. Built for A-types (and a blessing for chaotic sleepers like me), the fitted sheet has clearly labelled corners so bed-making doesn’t feel like solving a 1000-piece puzzle. A thick elastic band keeps it firmly on the mattress. And the big elasticated belts that come with each set? They keep everything neat and bundled, making my linen cupboard look unusually organised. (Could I get some for life in general?)
I’ve thrown these sheets in the machine multiple times, and they’ve come out looking and feeling good – no pilling, no shrinking, no drama. Made from GOTS -certified organic cotton in 200-thread-count percale , they feel both crisp and supportive. The colour range is pared back and thoughtful, from buttery yellow and off-white to earthy clay, with pops of blueberry and raspberry.
The doona is just as good. I went for the All Rounder , which falls between Bonny’s Winter and Summer quilts. It feels like a weighted cloud – light, fluffy and breathable, yet grounding. Thoughtfully designed, it’s got corner tabs to keep it from slipping inside the cover. And it stays puffed up, making my bed look like a bouncy castle ready to catch me each night. It does lean light, so if you run cold or live in a cooler climate, the Winter quilt might suit you better.
Best of all, Bonny has a 14-day guarantee – if it’s not the one, you can return it for a full refund. All returned sheets and doonas are donated to local charities that support refugees, survivors of domestic violence, and those seeking secure housing.
The sheet market is crowded, sure. But Bonny has nailed the little details that make a difference to chaotic sleepers like me. I’ll still throw the pillows off anyway.
