Lucy Folk’s First Foray Into Homewares Features Delicate Hand-Embroidered Cotton Napkins and Tablecloths

The long days and balmy nights might be ending soon, but if there’s anything we’ve learned from Lucy Folk over the years, it’s that the summer lifestyle can be worn and lived all year-round.

The Noosa-based fashion and jewellery designer is known for her chic resort-inspired aesthetic, intricate details and fine craftsmanship, and she’s brought all three to a new range of homewares.

They include delicate tablecloths and napkins in various colourways and designs. There’s Sol, with minimalist beige waves and lines on white cotton; Vis a Vis, which has kitsch face motifs in yellow and red embroidered on a rosy pink base; and Prisma, a simple golden hue with colourful lines. The tablecloth features colours of the rainbow, while napkins come in pairs of red and yellow, or orange and green accents.

There are also picnic blankets in a soft blush pink, with similar rainbow stripes and a quilted pattern. Squint and you’ll see the world “playa” (“beach” in Spanish and the name of her Sydney store) hiding in the design.

All products in the range are made from organic cotton and Oeko-Tex certified threads for the hand- and machine-embroidered designs.

The inspiration for the homewares came from a chance meeting between Folk and an Indian embroidery supplier while she was in Paris in 2020. Learning that they worked with 100 per cent organic cotton base fabrics and responsibly sourced embellishment thread, she was keen to work with them on a new line.

And while not Lucy Folk originals, the brand’s website also carries delicate one-of-a-kind hand-blown glassware from Asp and Hand, a glass design and production house based in the US’s Pacific Northwest. Folk has selected each piece individually.
