On May 17, the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, a fruity, sparkling in support of marriage equality was launched.

The drink, produced by the Sparkke Change Beverage Company, comes in a 250-mililitre can and is called White Wine Bubbles. “Say I Do!” is emblazoned proudly on the front of the can.

For Sparkke, raising awareness for marriage equality is close to its heart. “It’s going to be a great celebration when legislation in Australia finally passes, so there was a clear match for us between bubbles and celebration,” says Sarah Lyons, the head winemaker at Sparkke.

Lyons, a queer woman who came out at 14, grew up feeling marginalised. She wants to promote values of universal fairness and equality.

Sparkke will donate 10 per cent of all sales of the drink to The Equality Campaign, an organisation that pushes for equal marriage rights in Australia.

“The Equality Campaign does a lot of great work for the LGBTIQ community, so we want to give them all the support we can,” says Lyons.

Sparkke has also launched four other products that support social causes, including sexual consent, rights for Indigenous Australians, gender equality and asylum seeker rights.

Sparkke’s White Wine Bubbles is available to order now in various pack sizes, a four-pack selling for $35, or a pack of 24 at $180. If you’re after a plentiful supply, you can purchase three cases (24) for $550, and you’ll also receive two stylish t-shirts to bolster your wardrobe.
