To celebrate the release of Disney’s Aladdin, we asked Sydney baker extraordinaire Katherine Sabbath to create a cake inspired by the film’s fun and whimsy.

Sabbath embraced nostalgia and her favourite memories from the film to create a Magic Carpet Cake using Middle Eastern flavours and her signature playful and colourful style. The spiced caramel sponge cake has notes of pistachio and rosewater, and it’s decorated with vanilla-bean Swiss meringue buttercream and candy-coloured chocolate gems.

Sabbath says she was inspired by the helpful and cheeky character of the Magic Carpet, who she relates to, and thought about the hopeful lyrics and wonder of the film’s dreamy ballad A Whole New World.
