Melbourne’s Four Pillars distillery has released its first bottled cocktail.
Shaun Byrne (of Maidenii Australian Vermouth and Melbourne bar Gin Palace ) and Four Pillars’ Sam Ng (formerly of Black Pearl) combined forces to create the Improved Hanky Panky.
It combines Four Pillars Navy Strength gin that’s been aged in a Maidenii vermouth barrel, then aged again in one of Four Pillars’ old chardonnay barrels, and then batched with Maidenii sweet vermouth, Fernet-Branca and absinthe.
Four Pillars recommends serving the drink neat over ice, garnished with a couple of slices of orange.
The Improved Hanky Panky cost $32 per 200-millilitre bottle – you’ll get three cocktails out of it – or $90 for a three pack. It's available online or at the distillery.
