If you’re the type of person who shudders to see hot cross buns on supermarket shelves on Boxing Day, it’s best you close this tab now. Thumbing its nose to tradition, Coles announced today that it will be selling four-packs of the Easter treat year-round.
The supermarket behemoth tells news.com.au that the decision is the result of customer demand – apparently it’s found that 53.6 per cent of customers want to eat the fruity buns outside of the Easter period.
The buns will be available in Coles supermarkets with in-store bakeries, priced at $3 per pack. That of course means it’s easier than ever to decide whether you prefer your HCBs toasted or microwaved.
