Just In: Chris Hemsworth Joins Sydney’s Archie Rose Distillery as Co-Owner

Chris Hemsworth becoming the co-owner of a leading independent Australian distillery was not on our bingo card this week. And yet, the God of Thunder moves in mysterious ways. 

That’s right. Sydney’s Archie Rose has taken on the Hollywood megastar as a co-owner alongside founder Will Edward. Hemsworth will serve as an ambassador for the distillery as it prepares to enter the US market for the first time this year, with plans to expand to the UK and Europe in 2027.

“I’ve been a fan of Archie Rose for a long time,” said Hemsworth in a statement. “Their ethos of only using Australian-grown malts to produce flavour-packed whiskies at their Sydney distillery is truly awesome. They’re a brilliant example of what Australia does best and I can’t wait to share that with the world.”

Archie Rose was founded by Edwards in 2014 after leaving behind a corporate career to pursue distilling. It became the first distillery to open in Sydney since the 1850s and is now one of Australia’s biggest and most decorated spirit producers, with a production facility in Botany and cellar door in Rosebery. 

“Having Chris join the business as a co-owner allows us to bring that ambition to the world,” said Edwards in the statement. “We aren’t just making spirits; we are using Australia’s raw materials and ingenuity as the base for producing the world’s best whisky, gin and other spirits, telling the stories of the growers and the land beneath them.”

To celebrate the partnership, Archie Rose will release three new whiskies, co-created with Hemsworth. The new drams will be available in Australia later this year.
