The Best Drinks for Keeping Cool When It’s Just Too Damn Hot Outside
Words by Scott Renton · Updated on 25 Feb 2026 · Published on 20 Feb 2026
This summer has hit harder than usual with extended heatwaves, relentless sun and plenty of chatter about Australia being the hottest place on the planet at any given moment. It’s brutal out there – avoid headaches and fatigue by staying hydrated throughout the day, not just with meals and after-work knock-offs.
Soggy straws and sweaty cups ruin a good drink; in 2026, it’s hard to excuse not using a KeepCup. And the brand has gone beyond the coffee cups it became synonymous with more than 15 years ago.
Whether you’re starting your day, heading to the gym or cooling down in the arvo, here are the drinks we’re sipping this summer – and the vessels we’re carrying them in.
Fruit smoothie
If you’re anything like me, slamming a smoothie on the way to work is a daily ritual during the summer months. Drinking straight from the blender cup is a no-no when you’re on the go, and doing so at home lets everyone else know how disorganised you were that morning. Transfer your smoothie to the Helix Cold Cup to keep your drink cool (and your look cooler).
Iced matcha latte
An iced matcha latte has become a summer staple in Australia. The Japanese green tea started as a fad and quickly blossomed into a favourite that’s now served at plenty of cafes. Matcha’s vibrant green colour makes it as much an accessory as it is a drink, so showing it off in a clear Cold Cup Original will help your latte last and let everyone know that you keep your finger on the drink pulse.
Infused water
If you spent your summer at the Australian Open or watching athletes sweating it out from the couch, you’re well aware of how important it is to stay cool. Throw some fruity water with ice into the Cold Cup Ace: a sustainable clear cup with a band made from recycled tennis balls and cork. Lemon, cucumber and watermelon are all great choices for added fun, and you can sprinkle in some chia seeds for added fibre and nutrients, too. Bring it along to your next tennis pick-up game, or to watch the next match at home.
Electrolyte drink
Gym sessions always feel a bit harder in the heat, even with the AC pumping indoors. Coconut water has great natural electrolytes that’ll keep you hydrated, or you can opt for a flavoured electrolyte drink if you don’t like it on its own. In any case, you’ll want to keep it ice-cold in an insulated Helix Bottle – our go-to for all our workouts.
Bubble tea
A post-gym bubble tea run is an essential summer activity, though it does generate a lot of single-use plastics. Keep things sustainable with a Cold Cup Longplay Boba. You’ll help the environment and keep your bubble tea cooler for longer. Plus, how many of your friends can say they have a dedicated reusable bubble tea cup? The tempered glass walls give you its full flavour, and the plastic sleeve insulates the cup to keep your hands dry, and so you can sip for as long as you like.
