I’d be hard-pressed to find somebody with a perfect underwear collection. Judging by my own drawer, there are some ancient unmentionables that are honestly unmentionable. Our bras and undies form the foundation of our outfits, but frequently not enough TLC is given to them.

But you and your bits deserve better. It’s time to update your underwear selection with these undergarment brands backed by these fashion stylists.

Holly Karas, Melbourne stylist

Le Buns make the most flattering, comfortable and well-made underwear. There are really good values behind the brand, which is always a bonus!

Kat Rose, Sydney stylist

For unique lace pieces, I love Melbourne handmade label Bizarre. They also do nice lace bodysuits and I like working these into my outfit for day-to-day wear as well.

For a super comfy set I wear Hara. They use a super soft bamboo and I like their size ranges and diversity of models. I think Scarlet is an awesome option for sustainable period care and they have heaps of styles and cuts.

Karinda Mutabazi, Melbourne stylist and creative director

Can’t go wrong with Bonds [or] Cotton On Body. For the best selection of brands I go to Myer or David Jones.

Jade Leung, Melbourne stylist

I resisted for a really long time but in the end Skims got me. (Thanks to David Jones for stocking it so [I] could see it IRL.) The Fits Everybody range fits me really comfortably and I love the size range, which spans from XXS to 4X.

Rochelle Renwick, Perth stylist and creative director

Nala are my go-to! They nailed the fits. [They’re] so comfortable, breathable and, most importantly, supportive – especially for the bigger-bust girlies. Getting behind an emerging Australian business is the best. If you need an immediate quick fix, Bonds Seamless are a classic.

Liv Brown, Melbourne personal stylist

It wasn’t until my second pregnancy that I got really into underwear and wearing comfortable intimates. Your body changes so much, the last thing you need is old undies digging into your already sore hips.

I could not recommend the Sydney brand First Thing any higher. Not only do they have fun bright colours – who doesn’t love wearing a matching set? – but they are also so soft, honestly the softest underwear I have ever worn.

I also love a strapless bra; I find they work well with all outfits and I feel the best in them. It is hard to find comfortable ones that don’t fall down, but I love my First Thing strapless bras.

My second recommendation would be my Juem maternity bras – they are so simple to wear and make breastfeeding in public so seamless.

Jenna Flood, Melbourne slow fashion stylist

My underwear drawer is full of Boody, but I am looking at trying other brands like Thunderpants in the future. Their high-rise underwear looks so good!

Elle Hioe, Sydney-raised stylist

Calvin Klein for everyday, basic essentials. They’re a little pricier, but mine have seen me through years and years. Alternatively, Chouchou Intimates do really fun, adorable pieces too.

Sally MacKinnon, Melbourne personal stylist

My current faves are the Airism ultra seamless briefs from Uniqlo. They’re perfect for under jeans and trousers when you want a seam-free finish.
