Just In: Second-Hand Marketplace Vinted Is Launching in Australia

Great news for hoarders and shoppers alike: Vinted is coming to Australia.
Vinted is an online marketplace selling second-hand fashion, homewares, electronics and other goods.
The idea is simple. With Vinted, sellers list for free and keep 100 per cent of what they earn. Payment and shipping are built into the app. Once an item is purchased, sellers receive a prepaid shipping label to drop off at their nearest Australia Post location. There’s also built-in “buyer protection” for items that are lost or damaged in transit, which is designed to make buying second-hand feel low-risk.
Vinted’s been a mainstay for European shoppers for 18 years. It was founded in Lithuania in 2008 with a mission to “make second-hand first choice”.
In a statement, Vinted CEO Adam Jay said, “We’re excited to launch in Australia and offer an easier way to buy and sell between peers … In 2025 alone, our European members saved a collective €21.6 billion euros by choosing fashion on Vinted, over buying new.”
Ahead of the Australian launch, the Vinted team has commissioned a study which says 88 per cent of Australians have items at home they could sell. (A similar study of my own wardrobe concurs.)
Circular fashion is on the rise, with people flocking to Depop (another second-hand marketplace, founded in Italy in 2011), op shops and consignment stores. Second-hand shopping is increasingly popular with young Aussies who are drawn to preloved pieces because of their value for money, lower environmental impact, and the way vintage items let you showcase your personal style rather than follow a trend.
Vinted will launch in Australia on July 1.
