“Bohemian and minimalist” aren’t words normally associated with dog accessories, but Melbourne designer Suz Strampic makes the concept work.
Strampic founded dog accessories brand Sebastian Says a year ago – inspired by her cavoodle (you guessed it) Sebastian – which also supports animal rescue organisations. “I started designing for my dog in the style I love,” says Strampic. “It’s a bohemian and minimalist approach to accessories.”
She was inspired by macramé plant hangers and used the knotting technique to create 100 per cent cotton dog leads and collars. “[They] are handcrafted with leather and solid brass, which ages really well,” says Strampic.
The leads and collars can also be monogrammed with your dog’s initials for the on-trend touch of personalisation. You can create the monogram online, with a choice of different coloured foil stamps.
There are also two types of winter sweaters in the range. They are made from a merino wool and acrylic blend, and come in blush or charcoal.
The brand also includes the Animal Spritz, a spray of calendula flower and marigold. “It acts as a coat shine, shimmer and flea-protection,” says Strampic. “It’s also free from chemicals and synthetic dyes.” And your dog will smell great.
Ten per cent of all profits go to Edgar’s Mission, a sanctuary in Victoria for rescued farm animals.
