Three To Shop: Fresh Sneaker Collabs With Serious Sole

Sneaker collaborations are one of the most exciting parts of streetwear today. Limited-edition drops mean you’re not seeing the same pair on every street corner, and a steady stream of considered releases keeps things fresh without becoming overdone.
And it’s not just the domain of techwear fans and sneakerheads anymore. In recent years, even luxury labels like Issey Miyake, Miu Miu and Maison Margiela have entered the fold. July brought a wave of new collabs – these were three of our favourites.
After a killer first collab, Australian boutique Above The Clouds is back with a second Asics project – a double drop of the Gel-Quantum 360. Timed to mark the silhouette’s 10-year anniversary, this iteration feels notably fresher than its predecessor.
There are skin-like mesh uppers, metal eyelets (a wink to trending hardware details), and tonal hits of wine, light olive and bone. The gel sole remains a signature performance feature, but the overall result leans more towards directional streetwear than gym shoe. Local sneaker collabs don’t come often – and this one is already sneakerhead-approved (read: Hartcopy certified). Still, despite its ultra-cool, techy status, it’s surprisingly wearable – and easy to style with just about anything. And it’s available to shop now via Above The Clouds, and from Asics on August 2.
Salomon’s latest XT-Whisper Void release sees British singer-songwriter Ama design her first sneaker – and it’s one of the brand’s most refined collaborations to date.
Built on a trail-running silhouette, the design trades hi-vis contrast for a palette of pearl white, coral orange and seaweed green – a nod to the Japanese free divers (also called Ama or “sea women”) who inspired the narrative behind the design. Sculptural lines and layered textures echo the underwater theme, while the shoe stays true to Salomon’s high-performance core, with a snug fit and grounded feel that holds up off-road, if needed.
Branding is minimal for those who prefer to fly under the radar – and the cheerful colourway makes this one of the more wearable gorpcore releases out there.
Puma’s low-slung Mostro silhouette was always a sleeper hit – niche, a little bit weird, and ahead of its time. But with Montreal-based label JJJJound at the helm, it’s finally getting the hype it always deserved.
In this collab, the minimalist design studio pares things right back. Loud colourways and athletic branding are swapped for tonal brown and navy suede uppers with butter yellow leather lining, while zig-zag velcro straps make way for laces. The spiked sole – a nod to Puma’s sprinting archive – stays put, grounding the shoe’s freaky-but-sleek aesthetic.
It’s not your average sneaker – and that’s the point. JJJJound’s release leans into Mostro’s futuristic edge, offering a sharp and unexpected alternative to the slew of retro runners doing the rounds right now. Which is why, despite only dropping a few weeks ago, most sizes have already sold out at local Puma stockists – so Kicks Crew is your best bet.
