The Dadon sisters are Australian entrepreneurs known for their platform sandals and colourful accessories. They also manage their own fashion blog How Two Live, and have collaborated with fashion labels, including Buffalo.
Gorman founder Lisa Gorman knew the twins prior to the launch of TWOOBS; they regularly wore Gorman to fashion events and featured the label on their blog.
“They really wore our brand loud and proud in a unique way. They put it together well and I think that has been reflected in the collab,” says Gorman.
TWOOBS recently launched a shoe collection (with a marketing budget of just $500) during New York Fashion Week. The duo arrived at popular NYFW venues armed with three models wearing only bikinis and sandals.
The Fruity Sandal features Gorman’s exclusive “fruity” print on its adjustable Velcro straps and a 2.5-centimetre baby-blue memory-foam heel. The tropical print is inspired by high summer with a pastel, basil and peach colour palette.
“It’s a bit summer loving. We work a lot with flowers, palm leaves, plants and fruit. Generally, within the summer collections, there will be some sort of flora, in this case, it’s fruit,” says Gorman.
“It’s got a bit of a Scandinavian vibe, the print has a naivety to it … it’s quite simplistic and clean.”
The second shoe, the Liquorice Sandal, is similar in style but comes in spliced, pop summer colours. There’s also a pastel-yellow platform heel and contrasting black and white stitching.
Gorman is expecting the easy summer shoes to do well and is not ruling out future collaborations with TWOOBS.
The shoes are $69 and are available exclusively from Gorman both online and in stores now.
