Designers are adding shine to their palettes this spring, with shades from gunmetal to gold punctuating my favourite collections. These new metallics play nicely with clean whites and moody blacks, and I love the unexpected pairing of silver with grey marle.

Sparkle is often associated with after dark, but there’s no need to wait until sundown when a crew tee or relaxed sweater makes easy friends with this season’s metallic pleated skirts, like this fluted mini from By Johnny, or luxe pants like this silver trouser from Bianca Spender.

Metallic accents, like Oroton’s Forte clutch or futuristic platinum eyewear from Le Specs, can help revive well-worn wardrobe staples.

Or try dressing up your denim with Acne Studios’ longline silver bomber or a bold earring from emerging designer Natasha Schweitzer.

Lamé or tinsel textures can make classic silhouettes feel fresh, like this silver slip from Camilla and Marc or textured mini from Rebecca Vallance.
