Casual-glam fashion label Aje is known for its cool feminine pieces and sophisticated vibe. But its latest collection trades the ruffles, flouncy dresses, artful cutouts and delicate finishes for tougher, more performance-led pieces.

Aje Athletica marks the brand’s entry into the world of athletic wear and athleisure, with apparel designed to be worn on the go and while breaking a sweat.

The debut capsule collection features a mix of warm, cosy items such as a fleece hoodie, puffer jackets, track pants and crew-neck jumpers, alongside more form-fitting pieces including [nylon sports bras, leggings and bike shorts.

There’s a focus on function and form throughout the range, which can withstand the rigours of HIIT or boxing, constant stretching from yoga or pilates, and everyday wear-and-tear. You can also wear the pieces out and about, running errands or just going about your day-to-day routine.

But the performance aspect isn’t achieved at the expense of style and femininity. There are pretty rose, warm tan and khaki colourways, alongside small details and Aje signatures, such as cinched waists, contrast stitching and balloon sleeves, that make all the difference.

Most of the materials used in the collection were chosen with sustainability in mind – 70 per cent of fabrics were sourced consciously, either through recycled, organic or eco-friendly textiles. The tees and tanks are all made with 100 per cent organic cotton tees; the nylon pieces are mixed with recycled nylon created from discarded fishing nets; and the puffer jackets use completely recycled polyester.

The range comes in Australian sizes 4 to 18, and is available online now.
