Song for the Mute’s Adidas Collab and More Fashion on Our Editors’ Wishlists in November
Words by Simone Richardson · Updated on 06 Nov 2025 · Published on 28 Oct 2025
Spring days might be heating up, but the nights still hold a chill. And just like that, a new wardrobe dilemma arrives: how to dress for sunshine, sans the goosebumps. Luckily, the Broadsheet team is on top of it: we’re sharing what’s in our trans-seasonal wardrobes this spring.
In menswear, closed-toe sandals ease the shift from sneakers to thongs, while lightweight jackets make their mark off the running track. For women, it’s all about easy layers – think knit vests and crisp button-ups – plus the anticipated revival of “jeans and a nice top.” Here are more than 50 pieces we’re adding to cart.

The warmer weather always has me itching to shake up my wardrobe – and after Melbourne Fashion Week, I’m feeling extra inspired. I’ve been eyeing the Adidas x Song for the Mute collaboration since we first heard whispers of it, and finally caved this week, picking up the Adizero PR in black. They’re the kind of sneakers that make you want to plan an outfit around them.
I’m also obsessed with this cherry-red Pinky & Kamal top. The asymmetric cut gives it a bit of edge, and while it’s technically activewear, it’s far too good to be confined to the yoga mat. And because I can’t resist a good sale scroll, this gorgeous blue Paris Georgia top is sitting firmly in my cart.
On the accessories front, I recently discovered Jasmin Sparrow’s jewellery at a Fitzroy pop-up and fell for the Oro necklace – a mother-of-pearl shell piece that feels both nostalgic and modern. And these E Nolan eel-leather moccasins? They’ll be sitting pretty on my wishlist until I’ve saved enough pennies to make them mine.

Oh god, where do I begin? I’m having the pre-summer panic about how I dress in warm weather, and it’s making me want to buy a whole new wardrobe.
I’m looking for a new pair of everyday sneakers and my first pair of (adult) sandals. For the former, I’m thinking a pair of Mizunos. And while I love Bottega Veneta’s Alfie sandal, I’ll save some cash and opt for Paraboots instead. My fear of shorts is being overcome this summer – probably with this pleated pair by Porter James and these teensy tartan tie shorts from Annabel Stewart.
But top of my wishlist is Yohji Yamamoto’s Black Y crossbody bag – though I’m hoping to find a second-hand one that’s already a little worn-in.

Sheer isn’t going anywhere – and I’ve decided the most fun way to wear the gauzy trend is with stockings. I’ll be pairing this Dal 1992 set with a black miniskirt and riding boots, then swapping them for Bassike’s comfy-as-hell capris and some vintage Italian mules. Bellissima!
After St Agni’s runway last week, my DMs were flooded with questions about these toe-showing flats – not quite a flip-flop, not quite a ballet flat, but firmly in that space between freaky and fabulous. If that’s something to clutch pearls over, this string of quartz beads from Vermeer will do nicely. And if the string happens to snap, I’ll keep each bead safely tucked into my new Yu Mei carryall (which, I can confirm, truly carries all).

I’m a big fan of Radical Yes shoes (I love trotting around in my super comfy Sophia sandals ). For my next pair, I’m eyeing the new Elim Derby sneakers – in bright red, of course, so I can move faster from one warm-weather outing to the next. The cold hasn’t entirely left Melbourne yet, so I’m also keeping an eye on these vests by Kowtow and Elka Collective for layering. Dress-wise, I’m loving this Kowtow piece (it has pockets – no further questions) and a sweet summer nightie by Boody.

There was a second there where all I needed was pants, skirts and shorts. But now I’ve overcorrected and am in desperate need of tops. I’ve already shopped the latest JW Anderson x Uniqlo collab – and I’m coming back for more. I’m ordering this boxy blue oxford for work, plus another one in red and cream to layer over a tee.
I’m so into photographer Petra Collins’s brand I’m Sorry, and this tee she made with Jenny Fax is really speaking to me for reasons that will be obvious to all who know me.
And after years of eyeing them, I think I’m finally going to bite the bullet and order a custom Lingua Franca crewneck. I’m currently thinking navy with “Melbourne Famous” embroidered in cursive.

I like brands that experiment with utilitarian design, and during these trans-seasonal moments, I’m always on the lookout for clothes that can adapt to Melbourne’s wild shifts in weather. That means light, durable fabrics, smart layering, getting the balance right between fashion and function – and more pockets, always.
Some of the pieces that have caught my eye so far this season include this baby blue checked shirt from Post Archive Faction or the matching jacket, which is just beautiful. I think they’ll pair really well with the new Adidas x SFTM pants I just bought.
I’m also working with Benjamin Rose Jewellery on a new signet ring and looking to replace my old hiking shoes with the same pair – they’re the comfiest shoes I’ve ever stomped around in.

I went to the St Agni Resort ’26 showcase last week and haven’t been able to think about anything else since. Brushed leather, ’90s silhouettes and tassel detailing were dotted throughout the show. I really could have taken one of everything, but if I had to choose, I’d start with the ballerina top and two-tone pants.
Speaking of pants, I’m newly obsessed with tracksuits that work both in and out of the house. Local brand Exotic Import has a heap of style-forward shades, but the blue wash tops my list.
Zooming out – I’ve worn so many versions of “jeans and a nice top” in my lifetime, but now I’m looking to experiment with accessories to breathe new life into the combo. First cab off the rank: textural belts – and this Deiji Studios crochet style fits the bill nicely. I’ve also been searching high and low for a beaded necklace, but the hunt is over, thanks to Reliquia.
And it wouldn’t be a wishlist without something from Mecca. Every visit, I’ve been spritzing Tsu Lange Yor’s latest fragrance, Sage’s Rose. It’s a stunning blend of Damask rose, myrrh, sugar and poppy – delicious.

Brat summer may be over, but lime green still has me in a chokehold thanks to this Christopher Esber drape top. I read a Substack recently declaring that “jeans and a cute top” is back – and I’ve chosen to wholeheartedly believe that this spring. I also haven’t been able to stop thinking about this belted top (and the matching pants ), so they may need to come home with me too now that the weather’s warming up. Would it be too much to add this heavenly blue suede bag to my cart while I’m at it?
In more sensible news, I’ve been on the hunt for work basics and recently picked up the Wynn Hamlyn flower cardigan and a pair of gunmetal grey trousers that market themselves as “trackpants” – I’m assuming because of how incredibly comfortable they are. And finally, I’m finishing off this month’s shopping spree with a lip tint. This one by Benefit doubles as a smudge-proof blush – a winner for the summer heat.

I’m off to Mexico at the end of the year, so I’m calling this my excuse for some pre-holiday shopping (not that I really need one). I’ve had my eye on this black beaded belt from Friends With Frank for months – I think everyone around me is sick of hearing about it – so it’s time to take the plunge. I can already see it paired with this Apres Studio miniskirt or simple linen pants like this white St Agni style.
I plan to spend plenty of time beachside or by the pool – ideally in this beaded Fella Swim bikini, a subtle step up from your usual black set. And after weeks of flip-flopping (pun intended), I think I’ve finally convinced myself to add the Christopher Esber jelly thongs ) in sage green to cart, too.
