Faux Fur Jackets, Ganni’s New Shoe Collab and More Fashion on Our Editors’ May Wishlist
Words by Gitika Garg · Updated on 20 May 2026 · Published on 20 May 2026
Autumn is on its way out, and the shift in weather is starting to show. To counter the creeping all-black uniform, our editors are leaning into colour and play – ruffled pink scrunchies, statement belts, suede bags and other mood-lifting accessories. Where bright colours aren’t the answer, it’s an earthy palette of tan, moss green and khaki doing the work.
Faux-fur textures are another throughline, turning up in plush jackets and footwear. And the latest animal-print debutante: soft Bambi and fawn patterning. Merino wool layers, sharp V-necks and trusty boots are also on high rotation. Here’s everything we’re adding to cart this month.
Maggie Zhou, fashion editor-at-large

I’m fresh from Australian Fashion Week and dripping with style inspiration. Sydney turned up its chic factor, and in turn, I’m looking at more refined, luxe pieces to add to my autumn wardrobe. Esse was one of the standout showcases of the week, and I love its Cinca fringe miniskirt (fringe is going nowhere). In the same vein, I love Birkenstock’s collaboration with Song for The Mute. Look at these Paris the Rebel black cow fur T-bars! Jac & Jack’s stunning Whisp Wool Cashmere Mouline shawl is divine; there’s an effortless grandeur to the oversized piece.
V-neck sweaters are having a moment, and I like the look of St Agni’s Fine Merino V-Neck sweater. In the accessories realm, I’m loving Permanent Vacation’s capacious suede Orb bag and Kristin Ash's Renewal necklace.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: all I want to wear right now is dark tones with pops of colour. My dream combination is the perfect sweater – something like the MM6 Ripped-Effect Knitted Jumper – paired with the St Agni fluid jersey skirt, maybe with coloured stockings underneath and cinched with the gorgeous Isabel Marant red belt for some contrast.
Last week, on the same day, I tried on the Seb Brown Slim Tablet ring and the Our Legacy Haul Camion boots. Unfortunately for my bank account, I haven’t stopped thinking about them since. The MM6 ballet shoes are another strong contender, having sat in my cart for far too long. Despite all the black, I still crave a little colour. The Maryam Nassir Zadeh baby pink scrunchie feels like the perfect touch. (I already own it in black, surprise, surprise.)

Coat season is where I thrive. I firmly believe the right coat can make an outfit and set the foundation for a great winter wardrobe. This suede trench and faux-fur Bambi-spotted jacket both feel like forever pieces, easily paired with any base layers like this elevated one-shoulder T-shirt from Pinky & Kamal.
I’ve also been admiring Brooke Callahan’s effortless silhouettes and adore almost every piece in the collection. For the colder months, I’d love to invest in the Tie pants in rice. Maem Disko’s silk capris are also firmly on the wishlist.
For accessories, these caramel-lensed sunglasses are the ideal trans-seasonal finishing touch. Leaning into the toffee tones, these oak ballet flats by St Agni are an easy everyday shoe that still feels polished – and they happen to be on sale right now. I’m also eyeing a pair of mismatched open hoop earrings by Justine Clenquet.

With my job, it often feels like I live on planes. I travel with hand luggage only, so it’s time to upgrade the kit. This July carry-on will get plenty of use.
Inside, I’m packing light. This black shirt from Satisfy is all about the details – an invisible snap-button closure, subtle panelling and two chest pockets. My Auralee fixation is still going strong; I don’t own a green shirt, which feels like reason enough to add this one.
I recently bought a pair of Lemaire jeans in chocolate brown and have been wearing them on repeat. It’s convinced me I need them in other colours, starting with this grey wash. And then there’s the loss I’m still in denial about: a pair of Jacques Marie Mage sunglasses, left behind in a bar bathroom. I’m holding out hope they show up, but for now, a replacement is sitting patiently in my cart.

We’re officially back to cold-weather dressing, and the only thing getting me through this winter is a wardrobe full of bright, fun pieces to scare away the winter blues. As someone who wears jeans 90 per cent of the time, I’ve decided to up my game with these incredible Courtney Zheng Tapestry ones. They’ve already sold out once, but are being restocked. To go with them, this effortlessly cool one-shoulder top.
I’m also making the most of Wynn Hamlyn while I still can with this suede bomber jacket, and keeping the green theme going strong with this Kowtow cardigan and an oversized floral jacquard shirt from Poppy Lissiman. Finally, accessories feel like an easy way to bring life back to the older pieces in my wardrobe and I have my eye on this Margaux Lee Pearl wrap skirt and the Esthe Parachute tote bag in burgundy.

This month I’ll be heading to the Maem Disko pop-up to pick up the Verona Silk capris, along with a few in-store exclusives I’m excited to get my hands on for my upcoming trip to Italy. While looking for pieces with longevity, I know this tailored jacket from Nuovo would live in my wardrobe forever. Faux fur is having a major revival too, and I’m leaning in with the Courage jacket from Unreal Fur. I’m planning to pair both with the Tank Air Tulip jeans, as my obsession with a bootleg silhouette continues.
Lately, I’ve been inspired by a few colleagues to finally take the plunge on a pair of Miista boots. I’m particularly taken by the floral embossed leather on the Alfreda style. I also would love to add an oversized belt to my wardrobe and the Wide Classic from St Agni is firmly on my list. Those brisk morning walks are also feeling a lot more manageable in my merino knit hood from Paire, which has been keeping me cosy and stylish at the dog park. Plus, the Raye sunglasses from Lexxola would make my neutral-coloured wardrobe a little more interesting.

I love a daily uniform, provided it’s built on a foundation of interesting textures and patterns. This month, the anchor is Kowtow’s Atelier trench in landscape checks. I’m keen to layer it over Olga Joan’s Nera top, which has that second-skin fit. For oversized comfort, I’m eyeing this powder-blue V-neck jumper from Cos.
This carnation scrunchie is delightful, as is the Faris River ring. To ground it all, I’m stepping into the Marie Square ballerinas by La Choix. They have a ruched leather finish and will look great with (or without) socks.
Yulia Frolov, sales and partnerships manager

Autumn is here and the slow slide into all-black fits starts the second the clocks change. I’m in denial and want the colour to stick around. The Aries skirt by Nancy Bird, this Karen Millen ruffle top and this Marimekko tote have been on my radar since summer, and feel just as right now. My colour palette isn’t changing with the weather; I’ll be cleverly layering instead. This Cos cardigan and wide-leg pants by Commonry are doing the practical work. Do I already have a blue scarf? Yes. Am I coveting another? Yes. This Marni wool and mohair blend style is doing the work to keep me warm, and the Merrell Moab 3s are there for everything else.

I know it’s not exactly sunglasses weather, but I can’t stop thinking about oversized frames. Specifically, these chunky aviator-style Pradas I tried on a few weeks ago and haven’t been able to shake. I’m still figuring out how to justify them – not that it’s particularly hard – but for the sake of my bank account, I’m redirecting my attention to a slightly more affordable pair from Chimi.
I’ve just come back from Fashion Week, where one of the strongest trends was tailored jackets worn open. I’m planning to channel the same energy with this black Esse blazer, fresh off the runway. It works just as well styled with an exposed midriff as it does layered over something like Paire’s cashmere long-sleeve or this ruched Christopher Esber number.
Our shopping editor introduced me to New York-based jewellery designer Sapir Bachar via the sculptural choker she wears every day. It’s become her signature, and I’ve admired it ever since we met. I’ve been meaning to find a similar piece for my own uniform – and now that this style is on sale, I’m finally committing.
Also on the wishlist: Parisian swimwear label Dolla’s bikinis with detachable beaded straps, the Jil Sander x Puma sneaker collab, Ganni’s team-up with Melissa and a beautifully handmade bag from Inedito.
Grace MacKenzie, Sydney food and drink editor

I’m weeks away from the high-low Italian holiday of my dreams. High: a wedding in a Ligurian castle. Low: hiking to a refugio (read: bunk beds) overlooking Lake Garda. I’m delighted, but packing will be a mix. I’ve had my eye on Alemais’s cut-out Leandra dress, and just found it in a brighter colourway (in my size!) on Depop. That’s the love party sorted, with Gold Mejuri hoops and strappy St Agni sandals. The glam will sit snug next to Pinky & Kamal hiking shorts, a fresh pair of Salomons, Neuw’s boxy tee and a backpack (to carry my paninis). A pair of Triangl pair of cossies and Le Specs shades too, of course.
