Margot Robbie-Approved Knits, the Next Hybrid Shoe and More Fashion on Our Editors’ Wishlists
Words by Simone Richardson · Updated on 21 Apr 2026 · Published on 17 Mar 2026
March marks the start of fashion’s most practical season. The brief window between summer heat and winter cold is the ideal time to invest in versatile, high-rotation pieces – the kind that transition effortlessly across temperature shifts without the need for a wardrobe overhaul.
This month, our editors are focusing on trans-seasonal basics and considered splurges: structured layering pieces in neutral tones, locally made jewellery designed to wear daily, and the footwear trends worth knowing about now. And as the northern hemisphere moves out of colder months, it’s a smart time to buy from international retailers holding end-of-season sales, too. Here’s everything we’re adding to cart.

If there were one top that summed up my style, it would be this khaki-coloured number from Harris Tapper. The sculptural silhouette is neutral and chic, with scarf lapels that gently cascade down the back. I’ve had my eye on it for a while and it’s finally on sale – a sign, surely. I’d pair it with loose denim, like these washed jeans from Assembly Label, for a relaxed off-duty feel.
Australian label Camilla and Marc recently hosted a private showing of its new collection during Paris Fashion Week, and this sleek coat with a leather collar immediately caught my eye. It’s the kind of piece that commands attention wherever it’s worn. As I lean into a more cosy-weather wardrobe, I’ve also bookmarked this knit vest and tailored grey pants from Copenhagen label Samsoe Samsoe. And I recently added a silver and gold link chain from Love Isabelle to my rotation and it’s already racked up compliments on its first outing.

For years, I’ve smugly declared that the weather in Melbourne during the last week of March is my favourite. It typically delivers the best of autumn – bright blue skies and temperatures in the low to mid-twenties. It’s when I can wear my favourite ensembles: trans-seasonal outfits without the burden of dressing appropriately for the weather.
I’ve got my eye on jeans like Nobody Denim’s Milla long jeans and mule kitten heels like these from Nelson Made. I’ve found myself reaching for more off-the-shoulder, asymmetrical tops recently, and love this local find from Attune and this elevated Anna Quan one. On recent runways, I spied St Agni’s Fringe Belt skirt and Van Brussel’s Aubrey Summer trench. Both have stuck with me because of how eye-catching and beautifully considered they are.

Hybrid shoes are one of footwear’s hottest trends. First came the Snoafer, fusing sneakers with loafers. Next, the Sneakerina was born, swapping the latter for ballet flats. The next unlikely pairing? I’m calling it: the Booterina. And while Open YY’s chunky take feels like the most natural evolution, it wasn’t until I saw Invasive Modification’s sculpted pair that I was sold on the idea.
More! Footwear! My 30th is fast approaching, so I’m leaving this incredible pair of Dries heels here – just in case my lovely friends happen to be reading. (Corali’s twisted bracelet is also warmly welcomed.)
Stepping out of the shoedrobe, I’m drawn to elevated basics: the kind you throw on with zero deliberation. I recently picked up Flore Flore’s grey T-shirt, but this little red number from Friends With Frank has been calling my name for braver (read: more colourful) days. Continuing the spirit of taking risks, Christopher Esber’s fringe-ful shorts are convincing this minimalist to lean into the new wave of boho chic – especially at 20 per cent off.

This past week truly felt like autumn, which gave me a bit of urgency to start collecting some good layering pieces. Last year I wore the same Kappa hoodie all winter long, so I’m prepared to splurge on an upgrade – either Our Legacy’s purple hoodie (the double zip is a game changer) or Auralee’s more sensible colour. I’ve also been eyeing Melbourne label Observe’s taupe denim pants and the Vented jacket, which feel like the kind of pieces you can just throw on and repeat all season. And before it gets properly cold, I’m going to pick up this Vivienne Westwood scarf – as the northern hemisphere warms up, end-of-season discounts start rolling in, making it the perfect time to buy.

A slight dip in the mercury last week has me romanticising the cooler weather, shifting my wishlist toward structured layers and moody tones. Topping the list is Jillian Boustred’s Luna bra shirt; its crisp cotton and corset-style detailing offer a structured, feminine base that feels perfectly polished as the seasons shift. I’m also eyeing the Deiji Studios double layer jacket in bark – the padded, boxy silhouette and delicate bow ties are exactly the kind of utilitarian-chic I want to be enveloped in once the afternoon breeze picks up.
I’ve added the Damson Madder Roisin bag to my cart (it’s also on sale right now), which has multiple pockets and is made of recycled nylon. And for a little razzle dazzle, the Izie Chester mules in silver mesh provide a necessary flash of metallic light against autumn’s heavier colours while this Lapis Lazuli signet ring brings a flash of colour that feels like the perfect final touch for any outfit.

Sand-coloured jeans are having a moment, and I can’t move past this pair from my favourite Copenhagen label, Kernemilk (the asymmetric pockets and wide-leg cut totally sold me). I’m thinking they’ll go perfectly with these ’90s-inspired pumps I just picked up from St Agni – the sculptural silhouette and square toe are both utterly timeless.
Along with the rest of the internet, I’ve fallen victim to Margot Robbie’s off-duty style. After seeing her in Sydney label Beare Park, I went on a deep dive and added several pieces to my wishlist, including this sheer wool knit.
Summer may be over, but my love for bikinis isn’t – so I’m also picking up this polka-dot number from Casa Lasola. And while I’m in a spending mood, The Jamie in Bellini from Realisation Par has been on my list forever – and it’s finally been restocked!

I’m attempting to be sensible this month, which means (reluctantly) accepting that cooler weather is on the way and sticking to practical basics. I’ve been crushing on these Friends With Frank cargo pants for a few months now – they feel like the perfect trans-seasonal piece, great with an oversized T-shirt or a layered long-sleeve like this one from St Agni. (The latter has been on my radar since spotting Olivia Dean in something similar.)
I firmly believe everyone should experience the magic of a cashmere jumper and this dark grey one from Cos is calling my name. Speaking of cosy staples, Melbourne Fashion Festival was big on fun socks this year – and I’m feeling inspired to shake up my top drawer with these beauties. Finally, I’m rounding this month’s wishlist out with a fun new work bag and the most perfect black beaded belt.

For me, accessories make an outfit – it’s all in the details, and there’s no off-season for accessorising. Love Isabelle’s onyx necklace is the perfect subtle statement piece (I’d happily wear it 24/7). I also have my eye on the Chifferi ring from Dinosaur Designs, worn alone or paired with the Chifferi earrings for a sleek matching set.
I recently discovered Pleiosien, a brand creating handmade 3D-printed resin jewellery. It’s impossible to choose just one pair, but I’m particularly taken with the Blue Dot earrings from their collaboration with Karlaidlaw.
I always return to deep chocolate tones in my wardrobe, which is why Pinky & Kamal’s Pantskirt and Blanch Wear’s midi dress are on my list – not just for the colour but for the comfort-meets-style factor. I’d pair it all with Margot Robbie’s airport-approved sunnies from Sir and the bubblegum-scented thongs by Melissa.

I’ve spent 18 years teasing my dad for wearing Crocs, swearing I’d never cave to the trend – until these marbled ones recently broke me. I haven’t regretted a single step. Also on the clog front, I’m eyeing these fresh loafers from Elk – I particularly love the zigzag edges. I’m already envisioning them with pieces from Kowtow’s new collection (specifically the cropped vest and these do-it-all gingham pants).
For one-of-a-kind finds, I’ve long loved Grace Corby’s curation at Art Garments (which just opened its first by-appointment store in Sydney), and I’m currently manifesting this singular Christian Lacroix skirt and two-piece set that’s giving wearable art. Finally, I’m also considering adding Baggu’s latest pouch colourway to my collection.
