Issey Miyake’s Asics Collab and More Fashion on Our Editors’ Wishlists for February

When the heat cranks up, comfort becomes non-negotiable. Breezy silhouettes, fabrics that breathe and shoes you can actually walk in all make for summer wardrobe heroes.
But comfort, according to our editors, doesn’t mean playing it safe. As maximalism filters back into wardrobes, it’s arriving in different ways. Colour gets bolder through calypso-leaning stripes, texture deepens with prints reminiscent of butterfly wings, and embellishment takes shape in bead-encrusted everything.
All these details show up across the Broadsheet team’s wishlist for February. And while statement pieces invite a sense of wardrobe play, easy cuts and grounded neutrals matter just as much. Here’s everything we’re adding to cart this month.

“Summer isn’t over yet” is the feeling guiding my current fashion wishlist. I’ve long admired Melbourne’s Oats the Label, and this striped miniskirt delivers the calypso energy I’ve been craving. I’ll be styling it with Dirt’s kitten heels and thick-framed shades from Poppy Lissiman.
Comfort is non-negotiable in the heat, which is where this long-sleeve dress from Resting comes in – especially in red, a colour I’ve returned to again and again this season.
On the accessories front, the Medici bracelet by Cleopatra’s Bling stands out as a forever piece, just as good worn solo as it is layered. Osoi’s tote also makes the cut: spacious enough for work essentials, polished enough to carry straight into evening plans. Rounding things out are these jelly flats – easy, practical and an effortless way to give even the simplest outfit a little edge.

It’s hot out, so I’m on the lookout for some new beach attire. I’m liking these blue gradient swim shorts from Gramicci to replace my old faithfuls, which now have one too many holes in them to be socially acceptable. I also think they’ll pair well with these A Kind of Guise sunnies, Lusso Cloud slides and a Country Road beach towel.
I’ve also always been interested in buying something from OAS Company, a resortwear brand known for its textured fabrics and bold patterns. I really like this relaxed fit long-sleeve, which would tie the whole nonchalant-chalant beach look together nicely.

I’ve had Christopher Esber’s jelly sandals on my wishlist for what feels like a lifetime. My favourite colourway – an icy, pool-water blue – is finally 50 per cent off, which I’m choosing to interpret as fate. I’ve also been eyeing this black bikini top and briefs, trimmed with natural quartz: a playful yet elevated update on a classic.
That balance is the brief for my wardrobe this year: pared-back essentials quietly sharpened with unexpected details. Pieces like this dusty blue baby tee and these smoky olive-grey capris from Bassike, or a structured panelled jacket by Belle Anna that does most of the talking.
In the accessories department, this onyx cord necklace from LA-based designer Sophie Buhai has been on my mind – a chic way to bring back the ’90s. And I think about these sculptural Miista sandals weekly.

Spanish fashion is having a moment. Not in the luxury design sense – Loewe and Balenciaga already have their place. Instead, independent brands like Paloma Wool and Gimaguas are shaping a distinct pared-back aesthetic that feels chic, minimalist and effortless.
My algorithm is obsessed, which bodes well for uncovering new designers. About Arianne makes bead-encrusted sandals crafted from 100 per cent leather. Talina carries a similar approach to embellishment across accessories, available locally at PDA Shop. Gaudir, meanwhile, brings nature-inspired prints to swimwear with an easy, unfussy cool.
Closer to home, new releases round out my wishlist. Asics’s collaboration with Issey Miyake has delivered a pair of slimline sneakers I can’t stop thinking about. And Christopher Esber’s slouchy tote was made for summer plans, with a rich warm hue that will carry beyond the season.

I’m embarking on a big solo hike next month – and making it my entire personality – so I’m on the hunt for outerwear I can use on the trail and beyond. I’m eyeing Kathmandu’s versatile A-line skort and Zorali’s waterproof bucket hat, which will keep me sun-protected in the bush and suitably dorky back in the city. Plus, for jaunts near the campsite, I’m swapping my ultra-industrial, ultra-ugly hiking boots for Merrell’s explorer sandals.
Back in the city it’s all about functional style, too. I think my very holey pyjamas have been scaring my new housemates, so I’m dreaming of investing in this pair by Jasmine and Will. And for weekend activities, I’m eyeing Camper’s Dana sandals, which take me right back to the ’90s with their embroidered blue flowers, paired with this woven bucket hat from Arms of Eve and new earrings from Elk.

Someone nicked my favourite trackpants recently (boo!), so I’m replacing them with Wynn Hamlynn’s darted tracks. And as someone who wears one pair of shoes to death, there’s a mild identity crisis looming as I choose between New Balance’s Gator Runs and RC56s, and a pair of Village 1PM. I like the chunky skate-style sole of the latter, but I’ve never worn a skate shoe and I really leaned into the slim sole last year. I’m scared of the pivot!
I also need a new all-rounder bag that can go between the gym and work, and also fit in an overhead locker, so I’m looking for something between a duffel and a messenger. I love the look of a low-slung bag; Acne’s Black Camero Hotel duffle caught my eye, but costs about as much as my car.

Trends have a habit of coming full circle, and right now I’m fixated on anklets. This Mejuri style feels timeless and durable – an underrated summer accessory. Denim, meanwhile, is always on rotation, but lately I’ve been gravitating towards a slim, low-rise cut. Neuw Denim’s Sienna jean nails that vintage-inspired wash and the thicker waistband is a detail I keep coming back to.
Summer shows no sign of slowing and Cmnty Grdn’s sheer plaid skirt feels like it was made for long balmy nights. But with Melbourne weather being what it is, a transitional jacket remains non-negotiable. The Ebony jacket from Friends with Frank has been on my wishlist for months, and it finally feels like the right moment to invest.
And finally, no wishlist is ever complete without a hit of (fashionable) beauty and Copini just added four new shades to its cult sculpting wand – all buildable, all tempting.

It’s hot, hot, hot, which means I need a cool bikini set to see me through high summer. I love the bead detail on this set by Fella Swim. When I’m not by the pool, I’m moodboarding for some upcoming weddings this year: two dresses that have made my shortlist are the Heath dress by Friends With Frank and Clea’s Jacques dress in buttermilk fringe, which releases in early February. This little cutie from Hai and this chunky necklace are the perfect accessories for both ‘fits.
