Almost a year after entering voluntary administration, Australian-born fashion label Dion Lee has been sold to US clothing retailer Revolve.

Antony Resnick of insolvency firm DVT had been running the label since its collapse last year. DVT sold Dion Lee’s remaining clothing stock at a huge discount in a bid to recoup $9 million of debt. Prices started as low as $19, with the Australian Financial Review reporting administrators sold more than 40,000 items in the second half of 2024.

Today it was announced that DVT has sold Dion Lee’s remaining assets – including its archives – to Revolve for “just under $1 million”. Designer Dion Lee, who lives between New York and Paris, is expected to stay on as creative director of his eponymous label, although that move has not been officially confirmed.

Before going into administration, the brand was reportedly unprofitable for several years but was kept afloat by a $20 million loan from the Levis family, former owners of Cue Clothing. Justin Levis, a former director of Cue and Dion Lee, left the family company two weeks before Dion Lee went into administration. He has since taken his parents to court in a Succession -style drama saying he was cut out of the family business after the collapse of Dion Lee.

In its heyday, Dion Lee was known as one of Australia’s most successful design exports. Its clothes were often sported by A-listers, including Kylie Minogue, Dua Lipa, Gigi Hadid and Taylor Swift, who notably wore the label to the 2024 Super Bowl. The brand had seven stores across Australia and in the United States.
