How about a kaleidoscope of polka dots, hand-painted, exploding all over your dress? Or a huge arrangement of tessellated flowers on your backpack?
Japanese global apparel retailer Uniqlo has announced a special collaboration with cult Finnish design house, Marimekko; a womenswear capsule, which will be available in Australian stores and online from March 29.
Marimekko, known for creating distinct and brightly-coloured patterns since 1951, is bringing the same design philosophy to the new partnership. Its renowned print designer, Maija Louekari, has designed all of the prints, including a new pattern specifically for the capsule.
Inspired by nature, the women’s collection will feature nine items: dresses, tops, pants, sneakers and bags of various styles and cuts. Given Marimekko’s distinguished polka dots, geometric and tessellated patterns and floral prints, you can expect queues.
Marimekko’s mission to empower people through bold prints and colour goes hand-in-hand with Uniqlo’s commitment to deliver comfortable, functional and, perhaps most importantly, affordable clothing.
Uniqlo x Marimekko short-sleeve graphic T-shirts start at $19.90, while dresses and blouses range from $39.90 to $59.90 and sneakers and bags are priced at $39.90.
The new women’s line will be available for a limited time, launching in Uniqlo stores and online from Thursday March 29.
