Headiness. Intoxication. These are the keywords you need to know for Bruxa’s new Don Juan 1973. The brand’s latest fragrance isn’t a spray or a roll-on. It’s a body oil – sexy, genderless and made to be worn on pulse points or layered with other scents.
The Australian-made vegan scent prioritises natural ingredients from plant-based sources. Don Juan 1973 includes Sensfeel, a compound that claims to enhance the body’s natural pheromone response. Another star ingredient is oud assafi, a coveted natural aphrodisiac sourced from lign aloe trees in South and South East Asia. It’s accompanied by smoke, amber and wood, with top notes of green peppercorn and star anise, making it a deep and addictive scent.
Its name refers to the 1973 film If Don Juan Were a Woman, a subversive erotic drama that celebrates female sensuality and power. “This is what Bruxa stands for, taking pleasure out of the shadows, rewriting how female desire is seen, spoken about and experienced. Don Juan 1973 is in service of the erotic self,” says founder Madelene Kadziela.
