Bringing Back 1989: Seafolly’s Latest Collection Is Inspired By Old Sketches From Its Archives

Iconic Australian swimwear label Seafolly has defined summer fashion for more than four decades, and its latest drop looks back at the trends it set back in 1989.
The brand has ventured into its archives for inspiration, and the result is a retro line of loud, clashing colours and busy prints in five nostalgic silhouettes. The Bodycheck collection comes in Jacquard textured scratch patterns in two colourways: a bright pink or a cool fluoro lime with blue accents.
There’s a retro, Baywatch -esque one-piece with a scoop neck, low back and high leg line. On the bikini front, there are bottoms with front-and-back contrast and cheeky coverage, as well as a high-rise banded style with high-cut legs and just as much cheek. And for the top, either a sporty scoop tank or a bandeau cinched at the front.
The designs are based on original sketches and swatches from head designer Genelle Walkom from 1989, but updated for the modern beachgoer.
