27 Long-Sleeved Tees To Style Solo Now, Then Tuck Under a Knit Come Winter
Words by Simone Richardson · Updated on 29 Apr 2026 · Published on 27 Apr 2026
There’s a certain chaos that comes with autumn dressing. The fickle forecast swings from T-shirt weather to a sudden need for knitwear, often within the same week. It’s the bi-annual conundrum we’re blessed with in the months between summer and winter.
One go-to style I keep coming back to? The long-sleeved tee. Granted, it might not seem the sexiest of staples, but get it right – the fabric, the fit, the way it sits – and it forms the foundation of the best (read: no-thinking) outfits you’ll put together this season. The kind that looks completely thought-out when, in reality, it’s just thrown on.
I’m a sucker for versatility (cost per wear, et cetera) and these simple sleeves are stacked with it. Wear them solo with tailoring or denim. Tuck them under a vest or slip dress. Layer with a knit, a coat, or both as the temperature drops. Move from office to casual to going-out simply by switching between a crew, boat or v-neckline. The styling potential is endless.
Fabric plays a big part, too. The key to sweat-free layering as the weather cools is breathable, natural fibres. Organic cotton – used by Alemais, Deiji Studios and Damson Madder – has a weight and softness that synthetic alternatives can’t replicate. Merino wool, seen in Elk, Toorallie and All is a Gentle Spring’s designs, adds warmth without the bulk of a chunky knit.
If you’re in a seasonal wardrobe rut, elevated basics are a good place to start. These are some of our favourite long-sleeved T-shirts worth adding to cart now.
Crew-neck T-shirts
V- and boat-neck T-shirts
