I grew up in the ’90s, when rainy-day entertainment meant threading plastic beads onto transparent string. Naturally, my early jewellery collection was a tangle of mismatched colour and shape – undeniably chic at the time (I’m sure), if now a little environmentally questionable.

Fast-forward, and the beaded necklace has grown up. Natural stones replace acrylic, curated clusters replace chaos, and what was once a childish accessory now feels equally stylish and ornamental.

Summer is their season. Maybe it’s the elemental materials, the pull of vibrant colour, or the fact that warm-weather styling invites a more experimental approach. Whatever it is, we’re fully on board – and these are the styles worth adding to cart.

12 beaded necklaces we’re loving right now

Lucy Folk Pisces choker

$895
Lucy Folk Pisces choker
Bohemian eclecticism best describes Lucy Folk’s jewellery. The eponymous label handcrafts fashion and accessories with a spirited yet enduring appeal. This piece is made from freshwater pearls, strung on silk in vibrant green and tobacco colourways – an easy choice whether your style leans playful or more tonal.

Gohar World Host chicken-foot pearl necklace

$668
Gohar World Host chicken-foot pearl necklace
Gohar World has a sharp sense of whimsy. Salami-shaped candles, bow-adorned baguette totes and chicken-foot necklaces sit at the heart of the New York label’s output. This design delivers its humour through contrast, pairing the unexpected motif with high-quality materials including freshwater pearls and gold-plated sterling silver, threaded on silk.

Arms of Eve Nyla necklace

$89
Arms of Eve Nyla necklace
While the beaded necklace movement often skews statement-sized, there are sleeker designs worth considering too. Bondi label Arms of Eve threads warm-toned beads into a summery staple that works across occasions. Wear it solo for a subtle hit of colour, or layer it with fine gold chains at varied lengths to build texture.

Vertigo Yellow Tiger choker

$1205
Vertigo Yellow Tiger choker
This New York jeweller sidesteps trend cycles, instead creating timeless designs that celebrate natural materials. Here, golden-brown tiger’s eye is hand-carved into curled drops at a statement scale. Elsewhere in the collection, you’ll find jasper, amethyst and other gemstones treated with the same sculptural approach.

Vermeer x St Agni Harriet necklace

$360
Vermeer x St Agni Harriet necklace
Queensland label Vermeer is all about beads, working with jade, lapis, onyx and quartz across its collections. A recent collaboration with Byron Bay brand St Agni produced a tight edit of beaded necklaces, belts and keychains, including the Harriet design. Alternating black-timber and sterling-silver beads give this style a more contemporary edge than many others on this list.

Cleopatra’s Bling Nazar Boncugu necklace

$229
Cleopatra’s Bling Nazar Boncugu necklace
Like all Cleopatra’s Bling designs, this necklace draws inspiration from ancient Mediterranean and Middle Eastern symbolism – here, through rhythmic beading of the evil eye. Each glass bead is handmade in Turkey, and once threaded, finished with an 18-carat gold-plated clasp. For those drawn to pieces with meaning, this one features the very motif believed to ward off evil.

Reliquia Tuscany necklace

$169
Reliquia Tuscany necklace
Designed with the allure of Tuscany in mind, this style from the Sydney label suits slow, sun-drenched days where dressing rules loosen. The warm coffee hue slips easily into a neutral wardrobe, but if you’re after something bolder, it also comes in ocean, lemon and bubblegum colourways.

Jasmin Sparrow Lune pearl necklace

$850
Jasmin Sparrow Lune pearl necklace
Why limit yourself to short styles? This New Zealand jeweller’s beaded necklaces are longer than most on this list. The Lune design threads freshwater baroque pearls of varying sizes onto silk cord, while other styles feature black onyx and irregular pearls. Wear it long, knotted or looped – styled traditionally at the front or turned to the back to elevate low-cut silhouettes.

Faithfull the Brand x Eliou Giraldi necklace

$240
Faithfull the Brand x Eliou Giraldi necklace
Faithfull’s roots lie in resortwear. A recent collaboration with Miami’s Eliou sees the label step beyond textiles, producing an edit of beaded necklaces, bracelets and bag charms. The Giraldi reflects that holiday-ready ethos through a Mexico City-inspired palette of sun-washed yellows, pinks and grounding neutrals.

Alemais Le Jardin bunch bead necklace

$260
Alemais Le Jardin bunch bead necklace
Alemais has never shied away from boldness. Its fashion collections are print-forward and colour-rich, inspired by founder Lesleigh Jermanus’s Lebanese heritage, and the jewellery follows suit. The Le Jardin necklace leans into maximalism, with an adjustable length that allows it to be worn as a choker or a longer strand, depending on your outfit’s neckline.

Dinosaur Designs organic ball choker

$520
Dinosaur Designs organic ball choker
The only resin piece on this list, Dinosaur Designs transfers its marbled sensibility from its instantly recognisable homewares into jewellery form. Here, rounded beads gradually increase in size from one end to the other, meeting neatly at the clasp. If block colour is more your style, polished cream and black versions are also part of the edit.

Wonwontutu Pika necklace

$135
Wonwontutu Pika necklace
Each Wonwontutu piece is handmade in Sydney and reflects the label’s pared-back, elemental approach to jewellery. The brand has collaborated with Sir and Friends With Frank, but the Pika comes from the core collection, swapping thread for premium leather and shaping agate into a sculptural doughnut form.
