The city’s most beautiful cinema experience rises again this summer.

Sydney’s iconic 350-square-metre movie screen is once again rising from the harbour at Mrs Macquaries Point in the Royal Botanic Garden this summer. For 48 nights, Westpac Openair cinema will screen the season’s most exciting films in postcard-perfect surrounds.

Led by four blockbusters – new Bond flick, No Time To Die; the Lady Gaga and Adam Driver-starring fashion biopic House of Gucci; Wes Anderson’s much-anticipated The French Dispatch; and the fourth Matrix film, The Matrix Resurrections – the first in the franchise not to be filmed a stone’s throw away in the Sydney CBD – the program is as eclectic as ever.

Opening night sees a preview screening of King Richard, a biopic of the father (played by Will Smith) to tennis stars Serena and Venus Williams. There’s also Don’t Look Up, a new comedy about the end of the world starring Leonardo di Caprio and Jennifer Lawrence; Ridley Scott’s epic new sci-fi flick Dune; Benedict Cumberbatch-starring The Power of the Dog; Paul Thomas Anderson’s much-anticipated Licorice Pizza; and Spanish comedy The Good Boss featuring Javier Bardem; and more. See the full program.

Top Sydney Chef McEnearney will return to the iconic harbourside venue, adding a Mexican BBQ twist to his signature Kitchen by Mike menu offering. Arrive early to eat and enjoy DJs setting the mood until the sun sets and screen rises from the harbour.

Westpac Openair 2022 runs from January 6 to February 22 at Mrs Macquaries Point. Tickets go on sale from December 8.
