Melbourne not-for-profit The Social Studio is part fashion school, part clothing label. And the now 10-year-old company is a product of the style, skill and hard work of young people from Melbourne’s new refugee and migrant communities.
To celebrate a decade in business, it’s collaborated with 10 talented emerging and established Aussie artists for the Art Scarf Fundraiser. The line-up includes iconic artist Ken Done, known for his bold, colourful brand of Australiana; a collab between whimsical Sydney fashion label Romance Was Born and sculptor and jeweller Kate Rohde; and Melbourne-based illustrator Beci Orpin.
The artists have each donated a vibrant, intricately designed work, which will be printed onto 25 limited-edition silk art scarves. They’re $150 each and all proceeds will go to fund education and work experience programs – provided free to Melbourne's refugee and migrant youth.
